MR HISLOP'S SPEECH.
The speech delivered by Mr. Arch.
Hielop at the North Huron Liberal oon
ventiou, held in Wiugham was as fol-
lows :—
Arch. Hielop, M P P., for Enet
Huron, congratulated the oonveutiou
on the choice it had made. Mr. Carrie
would be a strong oendidate, and he
balieved he would be elected and would
be a creditable representative. Many
Liberals at the last eleotion stayed at
home or voted Tory, but they had since
had reason to change their minds and
would in the coming election support
the Liberal candle -ate, There never
was a time when there was more need

of Liberal rule the Conservatives had

and wrongdoing of the Liberals." The
Come vatives are in office, they 'have
had the opportunity they asked for,
and they have not been able to show
a single instance of co•raption on the
part of the Liberal Government. Since
ooming into office what had the Censer
vatives done? They were going to
take the administration of liquor
licenses out of politics. This they had With reference to the C.N,R guaran-

The Toronto Telegram boasts that
the Conservatives will win Peel, North
Huron, Sonth Essex, East Hastings,
among other ridings. Shame ought to
have kept the Telegram silent. Every
ono of these ridings have been gerry-
mandered. If the Liberals sal in-
dependent voters of North Heron vote
for John T. Carrie, the riding will not
be won by the Oonserv.itivee.
John T. Carrie, the Liberal caedidate
in North Heron, is a well-known resi•
dent of East Wawanosh:' He has for
many years taken an active interest in
municipal affairs, and- after being for
several yoara a member of the county
cannon he was elected Warden of the
county in 1907. He is well peeled in
political matters and can take care of
himself on the platform. A farmer.
himself, his appeal will be largely to
farmers, who form the great proportion
of the electorate of North Heron.
Though the riding has been carved to
snit the Conservative oandidate, hard
work by his supporters throughout the
constituency may win the set for Mr.
Carrie.—Goderioh Signal.
