GERRYMANDER IN HURON. from The Dr. Williams' Medi:ine Co.
Brookville, Oat.
The gerrymander of Huron county by
the Whitney Government, as announced
in our leat iesne has brought out some
warm articles iu a number of papers, and
rightly so. The carve is a bad one and
of course done to be of advantage to the
Government. We understand that a
protest has been sent is by the Conser-
vatives of Goderioh, objecting to that
town being placed in the Liberal hive of
Centre Baron. The Redistribution
Committee will likely matte a change in
the divisions of Huron before the report
is brought into the House and it is not
yet known for certain how the county
will be divided. Even if the ridings are
left'as outlined let week we believe the
Liberals of the new north riding could
win with a popular candidate in the
field. Here are a few opinions on the
gerrymander from our exchanges: —

the Legislature will lead to such changes
as will allow of honest approval by any
fair minded man. It is never too late to
do right."—Goderioh Star, Conservative.

the changes completely alter the com-

Huron and Middlesex counties are the
only two in the province that are being
altered to any great extent. Premier
Whitney announces that another redis-
tribution will be made after the next
census are taken. Why not leave Huron
alone until the next redistribution is
made.
