ceeds amounted to $20.50, whioh is to be
used in purchasing a library for the
school. The teacher, Mr. Grassiok,
and all those who so ably assisted, are
to be congratulated on the successful
outcome of their efforts.

BELGRAYE.
The annual sohooi meeting of Union
S. S. No. 17 Was held in the school
bonne on Thursday, 26th December,
Mr, T. S. Brandon was called to the
chair and Mr. John Wightman was ap-
pointed Secretary. The ratepayers
present expressed themselves as well
pleased with the Trustees report of the
year's work. The school building cost'
$2,100; furniture and equipment, $300;
grounds, well, eto,, $300. The number
of scholars on the roll was 56 with an
average attendance for the year of 37.
Tne Trustees were instrcoted to pur-
chase a good bell and have it planed in
position in the belfrey. The Trustees
have engaged .Alias Kate Marshall as
teacher for 1908 at a salary of $360.
She has been teaching for the past year
at Irish Lake, Grey County and comes
well recommended. The scholars made'
good progress under Mr. A. A, Naylor,
who is giving up teaching. He was
kindly remembered by the scholars be-
fore his departure. The address will be

A vereinterestiug event took place at
the residence of 111r. John Barber, con. 6,
Howiok, on Wednesday, Dee. 18th, when
his eldest daughter, Dora Jane, was unit-
ed in marriage to Mr. Victor Ernest
Foster, a prosperous young farmer of the
same locality. Promptly at high noon,
to the melodious strains of the wedding
march, rendered by Mise Mary Drbbs of
Gorrie, the groom took bis place iu the
parlor under a floral bell which hung from
au evergreen arch. The bride entered
the room leaning on the arm of her
father, being neatly dressed in pointe
d'esprit over gray silk and wearing a
spray of lily of the valley in her hair,
looking radiantly oharming. The beauti-
ful ceremony of the Anglican Church
was performed by Rev, T. R. Farr of
Gorrie. After the ceremony and eon-
gratulations to the bride and groom, the
guests to the number of thirty partook
of a sumptuous wedding dinner. The
tables were strewn with smiles and
boquets of roses and carnations. She
was the recipient of beautiful and costly'

Before leaving the new school in Bel -
grave, where he has been teaching only
since the new section was formed in
February, the pupils presented their
teacher, Mr, A. A. Naylor, with a silk
umbrella, with gold.plated trimmings
and a collar =button set with a stone, on
Friday, the last day of school for this
year. The address was read by Miss
ndna Saandrett, at the close of a short
programme given by the pupils in the
prerenoe of the people of the section
who had been invited, and the presen-
tation made by Miss Laura Clark. The
address was as follows:

Dear Teacher, -We, the pupils of
S. S. No. 17, wish to express our great
appreciation of you as our teacher,
Although yon have been in charge of
our school only a short time, you hate
won our al e0tious and have beenso
patient with us at our lessons, that we
are very sorry yon are leaving.
Before saying good-bye we wish you
to accept the accompanying memento
as a small token of our esteem, and we
all join in wishing you prosperity in the
years that may follow.
