Anna Hamilton, 68, tagged along with her mother when she first opened Anna's Dress Shoppe on Seaforth's main strip. After her mother became ill sud- denly and could not be involved with the busi- ness due to her health, Hamilton kept at it and Shaun Gregory Huron Exposito Arnold Ramsey stands on Main street in Seaforth, he would like to thank the man without a name or face, who paid for his birthday dinner. developed decades of customer service for women in the area. The Brussels native has cho- sen to sell the store to a couple who are highly experienced in the cloth- ing industry. She has advised all customers nothing will change. The store will have the same staff, customers and clothing lines. "I've worked all my life and I'm ready for retire- ment," Hamilton said at the store last Thursday. "It's going to be hard, but it's nice that the girls that have worked for me for years are still going to be here to make the ladies comfortable that come in the door." Carrying the torch will be Tom and Nancy Hartai. The couple said they are more than familiar with the retail of clothing. For the past 31 years, they've owned Brigitte's Fashion & Thomas H. Menswear in Exeter. They also pur- chased Thompson's Ladies Wear 10 years ago in Bobcaygeon from a woman who owned the establishment since the 1950s. The two are confi- dent they can follow Hamilton's lead and keep the continuity going for years to come. "The big difference is she's (Hamilton) not here, that's the only difference," Hartai, 51, said. "I go out the front —" began Hamilton "—and we come in the back," Hartai finished. With 39 years under her belt, Hamilton said she'd going to miss going to work every day. "I had such great customers over the years, it was a pleasure to come to work," Hamilton said. Birthday boy is baffled by kind gesture Shaun Gregory Huron Expositor After finishing a meatloaf meal at a restaurant in Grand Bend for his birthday, Arnold used the washroom and returned to pay the bill, only to find out an unknown generous man covered the tab and had vanished before he could thank him. Arnold Ramsey, 73, from Seaforth, had dinner with his wife Barbie Ramsey at MacPherson's Restaurant last week. His wife mentioned to the other waitresses that it was her husband's special day. The birthday boy was "blown away" after discover- ing the staff covered both of their desserts and the man that who Ramsey had no clue was directly behind him, paid the $35 dinner. "It was unexpected, it's something that you hear about on TV, you might read about it in a newspaper or magazine, but it doesn't happen to me," Ramsey said in an interview at the Exposi- tor office. The experience is every- thing Ramsey could have asked for he said, the three waitresses sand him a birth- day jingle and attached a lit candle on his dessert. The good deed is far from unno- ticed and Ramsey said he would like at least say thank .ea orthhuronex.ositor.co OFFICE HOURS The Office Hours for The Seaforth Huron Expositor are as follows Mondays - 9am - 5pm Tuesdays - CLOSED Wednesdays - 9am - 5pm Thursdays - 9am - 5pm Fridays - 9am - 5pm Snufarlh ffUTOA Exp 8 Main Street, Seaforth ON PH: 519-527-0240 1 www.seafor-thhuronexpositor.com you to the kind man who strayed away without a name or a face.
