Plowing Match was held on
Friday, August 21 at 83419
Division Line in Ashfield
Township ward of Ashfield-
Colborne-Wawanosh. The
Junior Day was held on
Thursday, August 20.
Huron County Queen of
the Furrow is Kate Higgins,
daughter of Greg and Betty
Jane Higgins of RR#3, Brus-
sels. First runner-up is Kab-
rina Bishop. Miss Plow Girl is
Eugenia Pentland and Miss
Freindship is Kabrina
Bishop. Emily Terpstra, age
15, daughter of Joe and Barb
Terpstra of RR#3, Brussels is
Huron County Princess of
the Furrow.
Brian McGavin of RR#4
Walton won Reserve Sr.
Champion. Paul Dodds of
RR#1, Seaforth was Sr. Plow
Champion.
Lucas Townsend, age 13,
son of Matt and Aimee
Townsend of Blyth was
awarded Huron Junior
Reserve Champion.
Townsend also won the Wil-
liam Leeming Memorial
Award for best finish at the
Junior Match and well as Top
Plough Person on Junior
Day.
Sjoerd Jan De Boer, age
13, son of Klaas De Boer
of Cranbrook Road, Brus-
sels to the Huron Junior
Champion. De Boer also
received the Warden
Award as Junior Champion
and the McGavin Family
Award for the highest score
in classes 2-4.
The Ross Gordon Memo-
rial Award for Best Crown at
the Junior Match went to
Craig Bann. The Don Dodds
Award for highest visitors
score was won by Tom
Evans. Ben Speers won the
Val -Lea Farms Award for
youngest plougher from
Huron. Scott Thomas was
awarded Best Going Plough
Team.
The Antique Ploughing
Champion went to Harold
Walker. Antique Tractor
awards for most original on
display were a restored 1995
Ford 740 owned by Randy
and Jean Pentaland and for
un -restored to a Massey
Harris owned by Ben
Miltenburg.
