The village of

Win This Space venture
by this spring

Another Win This Space is reach-
ing Huron East soil once again and
this time it will be a different
theme.
With the success of the last
undertaking, the village of Vanas-
tra will be the next location to
welcome the new business ven-
ture. Instead of the retail route,
this project will be specifically
intended for the promotion of the
industrial, highway and commer-
cial space.
"The mechanics are the same,
but the approach of it will be a little
bit different," stated Jan Hawley
Huron East's economic develop-
ment officer.
Similar to the last plan there
will be one winner who will be
rewarded with $10,000, which
will go towards 12 months
of rent.
Alison Lobb, business con-
sultant from the Huron Business
Centre, will jump on board
where she will conduct all of the
training for the applicants and
all her efforts are free of charge.
When Hawley first heard about
the popular trend in Uxbridge,
Ont. she reached out to the
community to learn more. Now
the tables have turned and she
said several communities are
doing the same type of event,
including Neustadt, Ont. and
Orleans, Ont.
The director of the BIA in St.
Catharines, Ont. has also met up
with Hawley in Seaforth to dis-
cuss future plans in their
municipality.
"It was flattering to have some-
one drive to sit down with me.
That community is in the
100,000s, here our little (town) is
2,200." Hawley told the Expositor
after speaking on the phone with
representatives from
St. Catharines.
The BIA in St. Catharines intake
is an approximate annual levy of
$450,000 with about 600 mem-
bers, while Seaforth roughly
imposes a consumption of
$21,000.
"Even (to) the outside world, I
feel it was a total success and it's
being perceived by those as being
(great)," Hawley said.
"Numbers really speak vol-
umes, I couldn't be happier. I
don't' have to find the funding, I
have that secured, now that will
give me a bit of breathing room
to be able to plan for the
next step."
Hawley specified this Win This
Space is expected to begin this
spring, if you have any questions
