At a BIA meeting in Seaforth's council chambers this was dis- cussed. It was agreed that a formal memo will be sent out to all busi- ness owners within the borough requesting them to park in the designated spots behind their place of business. With several openings of new storefront ven- tures and the loss of three angled parking spaces at Goderich Street and Main Street, the BIA says parking is "becoming an issue." They also believe this will con- tinue to be a dilemma as the retirement home complex moves forward. "If this continues to be a prob- lem, the by-law officer will be asked to enforce the two hour park- ing rule, hopefully it does not come to that," BIA chairwoman, Melody Shaun Gregory Huron Expositor The Seaforth BIA is advising storeowners to park in specific parking spots. Hodgson explained to the Expositor. If parking spaces prove to be insufficient, the BIA will be looking into additional parking. "We want to ensure that ade- quate directional signage is in place for the auxiliary green "P" parking lots located off of the main drag," Hodgson added. Perth man dies after motor home collapses Shaun Gregory Huron Expositor A 76 -year-old man from West Perth has died after a motor home fell on top of him. On September 28 shortly after 1 p.m. the Perth County OPP, Huron East Fire Department and Huron EMS were called to an address on Line 21 west of Cromarty, which is roughly 15 min from Seaforth. Upon arrival the emergency personnel removed the male who was pinned underneath the large vehicle and performed direct medical aid. Authorities believe the cause of the accident was from a jack used to raise the RV while the man was conducting mechani- cal work. Subsequently one of the jacks gave way resulting in the vehicle dropping. The elderly man was then rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. afo ADVE'RTISE'RS! A wish come true Steph Smith Goderich Signal Star "A dream is a wish your heart makes," sang Cinderella in the 1950 Walt Disney film, and a wish it will be that's coming true for five-year- old Vanastra resident Reiko Quinlan. Through the Make -A -Wish Foun- dation of Canada, Reiko will have his wish granted to go to Disney World. Reiko and his brothers had no idea the wish had been granted until a reveal party that took place at their home on Sunday, October 4. Reiko has Osteogenesis imper- fecta type 3, a disorder commonly known as brittle bone disease. According to his mom Jessica, Reiko has had more than 300 frac- tures, many of which have occurred simply by doing every day activities. "Back in April Reiko was talking about wanting to go to Disney after seeing a commercial;' Jessica said. "I decided to contact Make -A -Wish and, after Reiko's passport was renewed, he was accepted and the trip was a go." Jessica said they would be mak- ing the trip to Florida from October 31 to November 7. "We are super excited for Reiko and his older brother," Jessica said. "I know he's going to be totally star struck when we get there. He won't be able to go on many of the rides, due to his height and condition, but he really wants to meet the characters. All he's been talking about since Make -A -Wish came to hear his wish is how he wants to meet the talking turtle from Find- ingNemo, we just can't wait." Lend a hand to the Heart and Stroke Foundation this winter The Huron County Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) needs volunteer canvassers this February 2016 for the annual Heart & Stroke Canvass campaign. Every seven minutes in Canada, someone dies from heart disease or stroke. The Heart and Stroke Foun- dation is committed to changing this devastating statistic. Our mis- sion - to prevent disease, save lives and promote recovery - will create a brighter future for all Canadians. To achieve our mission, we need the support of volunteers in Goderich. More than 100,000 passionate Canadians join our Heart Month campaign every year, working together to raise life-giving funds and to create more survivors. Last year, the Foundation raised over $10 million across the country dur- ing Heart Month, and $185,000 in Huron, Perth and Oxford counties. HSF is actively seeking volunteers now for the February canvass. Securing canvassers as early as pos- sible allows the Foundation to mini- mize expenditures by determining routes, sending out canvasser kits, and preparing for the campaign in advance. The Heart and Stroke Foundation are also looking for vol- unteers interested in taking on a leadership role to act as the Captain for a group of canvassers. The Heart Month campaign is one of the Foundation's biggest fundraising programs of the year. As HSF does not receive core gov- ernment funding, this campaign in February is essential to continuing the Foundation's mission. For more information about the different volunteer roles available, or to volunteer for HSF visit heartandstroke.ca/help or call 1-888-287-7775.
