The Livery in Goderich is
hosting a trio of veteran
touring musicians, who will
be armed with a guitar,
banjo and fiddle.
The nationally -renowned
band the East Pointers con-
veys a blend of modern
mainstream with some tra-
ditional Celtic music, which
is a mixture originally
evolved from folk tunes. The
band is familiar with the har-
monious scene and they've
been rewarded for their suc-
cess numerous times. Being
acknowledged as a top -10
single on CBC Radio 2, and
also collaborating with Ser-
ena Ryder and Gordon
Lightfoot. Already this year
they've received the Show-
case PEI 2015 Artist of the
Year award and managed to
collect the 2015 Music P.E.I.
New Artist of the Year and
Roots Traditional Recording
of the Year awards, as well as
nominations for Traditional
Instrumental Recording of
the Year at the 2015 East
Coast Music Awards.
"We're just hoping to play
as much as we can over the
next few years and hopefully
people are liking what we're
playing," said the guitarist of
the band, Jake Charron in a
recent phone interview.
"A lot of times, people
think of it as music for an
older generation but we're
hoping to introduce a whole
new generation of listeners."
The East Pointers have
been recognized for a lot of
success after only being an
official band for the last year
and a half. The three -some
have known each other for
approximately six years and
the love for the same malady
has brought the Canadian
group together.
"We all just loved playing
this type of music. We
crossed paths along the
road, in the Canadian music
scene you always end up
running into the same set of
people on the way," he said.
"We just clicked and
decided to start a band."
Currently the touring
band mates will be on a six-
month long road trip travel-
ling across Canada, making
their way to the UK and end-
ing the international journey
