Exeter-Seaforth U19AA Provincial Ringette

The Exeter-Seaforth
U19AA Provincial Ringette
team performed well this
past weekend, picking up
two 5-4 league wins. In the
Saturday match, the locals
travelled to Mississauga,
Exeter-Seaforth started early
when Alyssa Vanderkuylen
relayed a pass to Amanda
Hodgert who found Maddie
Cormier charging to the net.
Hodgert was successful two
inured later on a Avery
Wedow, Vanderkuylen pass
combo. The team played
some fast end to end ringette
throughout the first with
Mississauga testing local
goaltender Kendra Nesbitt.
Cormier netted her second
of the game late in the first
with Rachelle Keys and Van-
derkuylen helping. Missis-
sauga kept coming strong
and hard with the halftime
score 3-2 Exeter-Seaforth.
Four minutes into the sec-
ond half Keys weaved to the
net and scored on a play
from Hodgert and Wedow.
Hodgert finished the locals
scoring with ten minutes to
go on an solo effort. The
locals held Mississauga's
offence to two in second and
finished 5-4 at the buzzer.
The U19AA hosted
Whitby at home Sunday, for
the second day the locals
opened the scoring five
minutes into the game with
Wedow slamming in a
Hodgert rebound. Whitby's
fast attack tied the game
after some end to end
rushes, but Cormier and
Reagan Vandewalle set Jes-
sica Quinn up for a nice
goal to go back in the lead.
Keys rounded out the first
half scoring with Vande-
walle and Hodgert assist-
ing. Whitby started the
Second half with their fast
breakout style but the Exe-
ter-Seaforth Defense and
goalie were in shutdown
mode. Vandewalle got a big
goal on a great Natalie Reay
pass to take the score to
4-1. Whitby's three line
started to take it's toll on
the locals 2 lines and man-
aged one to come within 2
goals. Whitby on the attack
and with their goaltender
pulled, defenseman Reay

intercepted a pass and
cashed in a hard clearing
shot from her own blueline
to make the score 5-2.
Whitby powered up were
not able to over take the
locals, final score was 5-4 at
the buzzer.
The next home game is
Sunday in Seaforth at 3:30
against Mississauga, after
a road trip to Whitby and
Richmond Hill on
