Ruth Campbell
Winthrop correspondent
The weather has been good,
even though temperatures are
in an up and down mode. The
sun is sure nice to see. Fields are
also being worked and planted.
At the Mother's Day service
at Cavan United Church the
Christ candle was lit by Murray
McCall. Ruth Axtmann gave an
M & S reading about Fort
McMurray United Church. A
Mother's Day script "What is a
Mum" which included an
announcer, a mum, the devil
and an angel. The concluding
remarks of this were: "real
Christian love begins at home
with those closest to you, and
then spreads out to others from
there. Parents are precious, look
after them, especially mums.
The children's story was
about a baby bird looking for
its mother. The choir sang
"Far Above Riches!' Minister
Mary Fletcher's message was
titled "We Celebrate Moth-
ers:' There are many mothers
mentioned in the Bible.
Greeters and collectors were
Don and Maja Dodds.
Beatrice Campbell, Sheila
Nicol, Bob and Ruth Campbell
and Ron and Darlene Camp-

the home of Brian and Carol
Ann Campbell.
Bob and Ruth Campbell,
Doug and Vicki, Natalie and
Alaina Campbell visited Diane
and Jeff Howson on Sunday.
There is some activity at the
south-east comer in Winthrop.
It appears a well is being dug at
the MacDonald residence.
