New month heralds return of spring weather
Ruth Campbell
Winthrop correspondent
We have been having some
great winter weather, sunny but
cold. Now that we are in March
we can expect March winds,
then in April the showers and in
May the flowers.
At Cavan on March 1 greeters
and collectors were Calvin and
Diane Food. The M &S reading,
given by Jim Axtmann, was
about Emmanuel House, which
is a second chance for people in
need. The children's story was
about Mass. God sees where we
have come from and where we
are going and keep us on the
right road.
Greeters and collectors on
March 8 at Cavan were Frank
and Grace Dolmage. The choir
sang "God of the Sparrow:' Two
new elders were welcomed -
they are Carol McClure and
Sherry McCall. The children's
story was about Welsh dolls -
the minister had one, and boats.
The scripture lesson was taken
from Exodus 20 Moses receiv-
ing the Ten Commandments.
Minister Mary Fletcher's mes-
sage was titled "Confessing?
Yikes! Caiphus was the highest
priest in Jerusalem. In the gen-
tile court all are allowed in; -
Jews are only allowed in the
central part.
As we now are to have a
search committee it was moved
by Ruth Axtmann, seconded by
Brenda Bernard that Brenda
Dalton, Susan MacDonald and
Paul Dodds are on this
committee.
The knitting club will meet
this Thursday, March 12 at the
home of Marg McClure.
Food for Thought
The larger the island of
knowledge, the longer the
shoreline of wonder.
