Local elementary students will
still receive report cards at the end
of the current school year, even as a
province -wide administrative
strike by teachers continues to
drag on.
In a letter distributed to parents
and guardians, the Avon Maitland
District School Board (AMDSB)
says its students will receive report
cards completed by school admin-
istration rather than their respec-
tive teachers, whose ongoing job
action limits their involvement in
the assessment process.

ensuring that a final report card
will be distributed to all students
before the end of the school
year," Ted Doherty, director of edu-
cation and secretary of the board at
the AMDSB, said in a statement.
The Elementary Teachers' Feder-
ation of Ontario has been on a
work -to -rule campaign since May
11 over what it calls the unreason-
able demands from school boards
and the province in ongoing con-
tract negotiations.
Parents with further questions
about their child's academic per-
formance are being advised by the
AMDSB to contact their teachers
for more detailed feedback.
"If you have any questions, we
encourage you to contact your
child's teacher to discuss their
marks and overall assessment of
their school year," Doherty said.
The board, he added, is confi-
dent that its "skilled" elementary
teachers have kept parents "well
informed throughout the school
year."
