Last Thursday the Optimist Club held the sixth annual "Men's Steak Night" at the Seaforth Optimist Park. A long BBQ burned on high, which was about this size of a small truck, followed by about 50-60 men cooking sirloins one after another. "This time of year everyone likes to BBQ," said Optimist past presi- dent, Bob Dinsmore. The club purchased 225 steaks for the special occasion, many games and a raffle were the main attraction for the large group of men. The Seaforth Centenaires gave a helping hand in the event. A generous part of the money fund - raised will go to the Childhood Cancer Society in London. The club also mentioned that if any local organizations or citizens are in need, that they to contact the Optimist Club for assistance. We want the community to know that we can help out," said Optimist member Jim Mcnichol. "If it's the Lions Club or hockey club, we can help them, we can match what that group raises:' Last year the Optimist Club raised $3,000 and they expect the same this time around. "We have to keep the park going, we also right now have a little girl that has cancer, so likely a lot of it will go towards her," said Dinsmore.
