Last week the organization had their financial prayers answered after they received a $4,000 grant from the Trillium Mutual Financial. With the large lump sum of money the BMG decided a new lifeguard chair was the most important asset to be added to the pool. This gift is essential at this point in time, given that the pool has been around for approximately 28 years. "Pretty much every ladder MORE POLIC prarrrc, Road construction - drivers need to follow the rules (PERTH) — Road construction is a regular and necessary activ- ity for Canadian motorists face during the summer months. This summer is no excep- tion, and as usual numerous road construction projects are underway in Perth County. To ensure the safety of construc- tion workers and the gen- eral public, speed limits have been reduced in some desig- nated road construction zones. Some locations have barricades and detours in place allow- ing for a safe and smooth traf- fic flow around these sites. The Perth County OPP is dedicating resources to increase their patrols in con- struction zones and the bypasses around them. One of the construction zones is Ontario Road in Mitch- ell where barricades are in place and some of the traffic is detoured around the down- town area. Officers have been monitoring the traffic flow and have utilized the appro- priate enforcement action. From July 10 -July 15, the fol- lowing Highway Traffic Act charges have been laid by offic- ers at this location: The charges are as followed, two charges of disobeying a sign, five charges of disobeying a stop sign and one charge of failing to stop. During the early hours of July 12, an OPP officer on bicycle patrol observed three males moving construction site barricades on Ontario Road in order to redi- rect or block traffic. The males were each charged with remov- ing or defacing a barricade, con- trary to the Public Lands Act. At this time the police are urg- ing drivers when approaching or travelling through construc- tion zones watch for the desig- nated safety person that directs the flow of traffic, be extra cau- tious and slow down. Obey the detours and the construction signage. Be aware that vehi- cles ahead of you could stop unexpectedly. Do not watch what is being done to the road and avoid other distractions. Drivers should also be aware that while driving through con- structions zones speed fines are doubled and additional criminal charges may apply if a worker's safety in endangered by your driving. Remember that they are working to make our roads bet- ter and they have families too. The police concluded and said to concentrate on your driving. was broken, the deck on the life guard chair was com- pletely rotted through," said Abigail Corbett, BMG, facil- ity manager. Through swimming les- sons, seniors, children and the public, the pool sees more than 120 people daily. With all these swimmers visiting eve- ryday, the pool is content with the generous grant.
