the words "Coming Soon"
plastered across the entrance.

"let us cater to you:' Also cur-
rently new to Seaforth's main
strip is Johnny's Sub and Sand-
wich Cafe' and the recent gym
added, Seaforth Fitness.
"I think a lot of it was
influenced by `Win This
Space" not all of it, but a
good portion of it," said Jan
Hawley, Huron East, eco-
nomic development officer.
The "Win This Space'; which
had a surprising 28 contestants
before the official winner was
announced, recently captured
the medias attention. Last
week CTV London visited the
town to cover the story for their
live television newscast.
Seaforth and the area are
witnessing a little bit of what
Hawley calls a "renaissance:'

Scott Saunders Rolling Roaster Catering will soon be ready for the public, this is one of the many
stores opening in Seaforth.
On Main St. flowers are
blooming and so are the new
shops and of recently to keep
up with technology, a hefty
portion of the streetlights
have been switched over to
LED, which makes a more
visible view for drivers and
citizens during the night.
Many consider the town
as "thriving'; but it was not
always like that said Seaforth
Ward councillor Bob Fisher.
"In the 90s we had GST
laid on us and a recession at
the same time, we had 12
empty stores on Main St., it

Fisher who's been
involved with the Business
Improvement Association
(BIA) since the late 80's
believes the change from
now compared to the slump-
ing years is because the
municipality as a whole. He
said that this is the reason
why people are choosing to
start new conglomerates.
"I think it's part of the
package of the town, our
designated heritage district,
our main street and the
municipality is pro -active
with sidewalks with tree
planters, (which) the Horti-
cultural Society (provides),"
said Fisher. "It's all part of
that package we present."
BIA chair, Melody Hodg-
son, said since she moved
here in 2009, this is the most
modified she's saw the town.
She also mentioned that "we
struggle with the perception
this is a retirement commu-
nity, I think there's room for
everyone, not just retirees:'
"It takes time to get to this
point, we're finally starting to
see the progress, It's a lot of
people, it's not just one group
or one person, it takes a lot of
support,' said Hodgson.
"If I don't have to leave to
go shopping somewhere
else, I'm extra happy
because who has time to
spend a day away shopping:'
