MPP Lisa Thompson hol-

replied "H" at the 100 -year
celebration of the Huron
County 4-H Ontario organiza-
tion last Sunday in Seaforth.
It was a special day for the
group of volunteers who
have been serving the kids of
the community since 1915.
The club is adding new ele-
ments and additions con-
stantly. Currently the group
that originated from Mani-
toba consists of more then
6,000 youths and a proletar-
iat network of 1,600 qualified
and screened volunteers.

Congratulations Robyn
We are very proud of you!

that teaches you how to
"learn to do by doing," a
strict motto that all the
members said they live by.
"You can see by the smiles,
the memories that have been
shared and the strength of
character that evolve out of a
program like 4-H," said
Thompson.
Thompson, MPP and past
chair for 4-H Ontario, said "it
is something that has legs"
and she hopes this event will
inspire more youth to get
engaged with the program.
The Seaforth Agricultural
Society, which hosted the
event, was filled with
memorabilia of old pictures,
metals and vintage
certificates.
Approximately 100 past and
present 4-H members took
part in the commemoration.
The day's schedule began with
social meet and greets, a spe-
cial photo gathering, speech
and ended with dinner. The
most treasured moment of the
night was when the members
grabbed the microphone and
told a little chronicle of their
years spent with 4-H.

said she met her husband
through a chain of events all
because she took part in the
"4-H date night."
Taylor said giggling that
her boyfriend at the time
had bailed from the planned
out engagements and
because she still attended,
she met her true love.
"Are you going home with
Bill Taylor?' I said, 'Yes I am.'
That started it, June the 16th,
1956," said Taylor.
Neil Vincent, who is entering
his 30th year as a 4-H leader,
also chose to share his experi-
ences at the club with his fellow
members. Given the organiza-
tion participates in various dif-
ferent types of judging competi-
tions, Vincent said his favorite
one is the "cookies and donuts"
competition.
The bearded 4-H member
then shifted the conversation
to a more serious matter. He
spoke in a crackled voice as
he held back the tears.
"Kids unfortunately hide
behind texting even if they're in
the same room, the ability to
look a person in the eyes and
say what you think is the strong-
est attribute we can give any of
our children," said Vmcent.
"As a leader it's so gratify-
ing to see the kids you work
with succeed:'
This is a moment that all
these dedicated club mem-
bers like Thompson, Taylor
and Vincent will always
remember. This will never be
forgotten, 2015 is the year
4-H turned 100.
