"There is a lot of incon- sistencies in this RFP," MacLellan said while addressing fellow county council members at the Jan. 14 committee of the whole meeting. "It is not very professional." The current ambulance station in Seaforth that will be replaced is about 4,000 sq ft. MacLellan said he didn't understand why they were proposing a new base with a 2,480 sq ft. vehicle bay and 2,000 sq ft. building for crew area and storage, which means they will have a bigger space but will only house half the services. He added that he had received some concerns from industry contractors about the RFP. CAO Brenda Orchard said staff had kept the RFP "wide open" to see what kind of response they St. Anne's getting back into the swing of things Colin Dobson Minister of Public Relations After a long and largely snowless Christmas Break and a subsequent slew of snow days, St. Anne's staff and students are finally able to enjoy a full and productive week of classes. The Christmas Assembly was a great suc- cess, where both students and staff presented their choreographed dances and sang carols together. Quiet week has begun leading up the end of the semester, where there will be no extracurricular events in the days leading up to exams. Grade 9s stu- dents at St. Anne's are also busy writing their EQAO Math assessment. Good luck to all Grade 9s who are writing. Our swim team, hockey teams. girls volleyball, boys basketball and curling teams are excited to resuming their season in the second semester. We are also excited for many winter activities, including Win- terfest and a special lunch time event for our friend Ben who we've been pray- ing for since October. We thank God for his contin- ued recovery. Second semester classes will begin on Fri., Jan. 30, where there will be a wel- coming assembly held in the gym in anticipation of a new and exciting semester. would receive. She explained that they would accept a proposal for the building of a brand new facility or the chance to move into an existing building that could be ret- rofitted to suit their needs. "We wanted to keep all the options open," Orchard said. MacLellan and Huron East Deputy Mayor Joe ■policebriefs WEATHER CAUSES HAVOC ON LOCAL ROADS A section of Huron Road (Hwy. 8) east of Stratford was closed for a time last week due to two separate motor vehicle collisions. The first collision oc- curred on Huron Road near Hensall Road when the driv- er of a westbound sports utility vehicle lost control of his vehicle trying to pass two vehicles. The driver of the sports utility vehicle clipped the lead vehicle he was passing causing him to leave the roadway and roll his vehicle. The single occupant, a 46 -year-old male driver from Waterloo was transported to hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released from hospital. "If I was a contractor and an RFP didn't have any spec- ifications, I'd find it very hard to bid," Steffler said. Steffler said it would be unfair for a contractor to spend money creating a proposal without enough direction from the organi- zation seeking the bid. "I would suggest we agree we made a bit of a mistake and start over," he added. The deadline to receive proposals for the RFP is currently Jan. 30, but Orchard said if council wishes to do so the county can make changes and extend the deadline or rescind it completely and start over. Less than 10 minutes later, at nearly same loca- tion, the driver of an east- bound Chevrolet Cobalt lost control of her vehicle and sideswiped two tractor - trailers that were travelling westbound on Huron Road. After the Cobalt collided with the second tractor - trailer the Cobalt was struck by a following eastbound motor vehicle that at- tempted to take evasive action to avoid the collision. The female driver of the Chevrolet Cobalt has been transported to hospital with minor injuries. Huron OPP reminds driv- ers to always drive accord- ing to weather and road conditions. Drivers need to be prepared for unexpected weather and road condi- tions at all times.
