The Agency currently has an opening for the position of: SEXUAL ASSAULT COUNSELOR/ADVOCATE (Full-time) A critical position within the organization, this position is accountable for the provision of individual and group counseling to women who have been sexually assaulted, harassed or exploited at any stage in their lives and supporting them in the development of self-care and safety plans. Acting as an advocate, the Sexual Assault Counselor/Advocate will liaise with a variety of community, social, legal and medical professionals to facilitate access to services. This position also acts as a resource to the broader community by sitting on a variety of committees and enhancing community awareness by facilitating training about sexual assault and sexual harassment. Candidates should have a post -secondary degree in Social Work, Psychology or a diploma in Social Services Worker or related knowledge of these disciplines gained through other education/training resources and work experience. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the impact, principles and dynamics of trauma and trauma recovery and prior experience providing individual counseling to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. A valid Ontario driver's license and regular access to a reliable vehicle is essential.
