A $150,000 grant for the G2GRT
The highly anticipated pathway is
scheduled to be finished for the 2017
International Plowing Match in Walton

The 127 km G2GRT is
anticipated to be completed
in 2017. A $150,000 govern-
ment grant by the Ontario
Trillium Foundation last
Tuesday puts the project that
much closer to the public
using the entire passage.
Currently the trail is roughly
half -way finished with bits
missing because of specific
parts are in need of repair or
required by the province to
have certain control gates to
keep motorized vehicles off
the path coordinates.
Chris Lee, vice chair for
the G2GRT, said these funds
will be put forth and used
accordingly, for the most
part, several bridges includ-
ing the one near Byth Creek
will be constructed, followed

ground of the trail.
"(We're) grading it in
stone dust to create a surface
you can bicycle on or even
wheelchairs can run on it,"
stated Lee.
Doug Cerson, chair of
G2GRT expects this large
donation to enhance sections
of the trail that are presently
under construction, a key
point to be developed would
be the "Walton Departure
Point" a location that will
connect the G2GRT to the
2017 International Plowing
Match in Walton, ON.
"It's a testament to our
vision and passion to help us
reach our bold goal of a fully
connected trail and the
financial support prepares us
well for 2016's planned pro-
gress on the project," stated
Cerson in a press release.
"Much like the railway in
previous centuries, the Trail
has potential to provide eco-
nomic benefits for adjacent
municipalities, drawing visi-
tors and providing them
with the opportunity to
reconnect with nature. In
