Goderich St. and Main St.
in Seaforth are the geo-
graphical coordinates where
two separate car crashes
have happened this month.
On Aug 5. a Dodge truck
and a Chevrolet Malibu col-
lided in the intersection
resulting in the driver of the
truck being carted away on a
stretcher and the motorist of
the Malibu was charged with
driving offences. Not even 14
days later at nearly the exact
same location on the street
another accident happened
in Seaforth. This time it was a
Honda SUV and a Chevrolet
Epica which the Huron OPP
referred to as less serious
than the first crash.
"Two main highways
come together and meet,
there's North Line and High-
way 8, whenever you have
heavier traffic volume, I
guess the possibilities of col-
lisions is that much higher,
especially in the downtown
area," Huron County OPP
media relations officer,
Jamie Stanley said.
Stanley who is from
Goderich has driven past
that specific traffic juncture
a "1000 times" he believes
the crashes are coincidental.
"I don't think there's any-
thing wrong with the inter-
section, sometimes it's the
design of it, you read about
certain intersections that
have issues on the road way
or the engineering of the
road, I don't think there's
anything like that," he said.
"The speed limit is 50 km,
but you're going through a
main intersection in the town
of Seaforth, the speed should
be reduced when you are
going through a busy intersec-
tion. When you drive at slower

speeds you have more reac-
tion time if somebody makes
a turn right in front of you."
Since Goderich St. and
Main St. is the only place
with traffic lights in Seaforth,
the police are reminding the
community to be aware of all
your surroundings when
driving at this location.
