The words "Rallying 4
Rebecca" printed on T-shirts is
becoming a trend and helping
a young Seaforth child fight
the tough battle of cancer.
Three kids from the neigh-
bourhood decided to cut their
play short by selling lemon-
ade, cookies and other baked
goods with all proceeds going
to Rebecca Kipfer-Pryce.
They opened up shop in
front of the Optimal Health
Chiropractic building
equipped with a table, full-
size tent and the drive to
help a friend in need.
"Me and my friend did one
last year, so I thought it would
be cool this year," said Bailey
Stackhouse, from Seaforth.
"This one's for a great cause."
Bailey, 9, said she and a
couple friends had been
planning this special occa-
sion for weeks.
"When we first found out
that Rebecca had cancer we
(knew right then) that we
had to raise money for her,"
said Bailey.
Paula Stackhouse, who
assisted her daughter with
preparing the event said, "it's
fantastic that everyone
around the area is helping
out Rebecca and her family.
`I'm feeling very proud of
the kids at this age that they
realize they can make a dif-
ference and help other peo-
ple," said Paula.
"The fact that the little girl
is a friend and a relative of
theirs that's amazing, we're
so happy everyone is coming
together."
Kelly Marks, whose
daughter Morgan Marks is a
cousin of Kipfer-Pryce, said
she was surprised that the
children came up with the
idea on their own.
Not only was Marks sur-
prised, but also Kipfer-Pryce's
mother, Karen Kipfer-Pryce,
said emotional with tears "it's
overwhelming."
Karen who was returning
home from London with
Kipfer-Pryce received a text
photo of the children on
Main St. Kipfer-Pryce then
asked, "can we go out and
get lemonade mom?"
Without even thinking
Karen said, "we sure can, of
course with tears"
The generosity continues for
the Kipfer-Pryce family. Last
week, the Huron East Council
approved a by-law requested
by the Seaforth Legion for a
temporary road closure. It
begins Aug 8.at Huron St. to
Main St and ending at High St.
to accommodate a benefit
event for Kipfer-Pryce.
"You will see how this
community will rally around
families who need help," said
Ray Chartrand, one of two
Tuckersmith Ward
councillors.
"I have been very
impressed."

From the left, Corey Stackhouse, Morgan Marks, Rebecca Kipfer-Pryce and Bailey Stackhouse. The group planned a fundraising event
for Kipfer-Pryce on Main St last week.
A short time ago Kipfer-
Pryce, complained about her
stomach hurting, so Kipfer-
Pryce's parents drove her to
the doctor. She was then
diagnosed with Stage 4
neuroblastoma.
Last Friday Kipfer-Pryce
started her third round of
chemo. Next month on Aug
21 at the Seaforth Golf Club,
there will be a fundraiser for
Kipfer-Pryce with a golf tour-
nament, putting challenges
along with other games.
