United Way Perth -Huron pays tribute
to Scotiabank, community
Scotiabank continues to be a top
supporter of United Way Perth -
Huron. For a second year, Scotia -
bank has boosted the UW Care -a -
Van of Hope by matching
donations, dollar for dollar, up to
$15,000. Thanks to the incredible
generosity of the community, the
maximum amount was reached,
which for the United Way and its
funded partners means $30,000 for
their mission.
The Care -A -Van of Hope takes
place every December. United Way
staff and volunteers, courtesy of
Cherrey Bus Lines, visit Scotiabank
branches throughout Huron and
Perth Counties. "For every commu-
nity donation to each branch, Sco-
tiabank matches that amount—the
response is tremendous. We are
proud to be important contributors
to United Way and the catalyst of
community donations as well,"
shared Don McNabb, Community
Branch Manager, Stratford. "United
Way Perth -Huron is a tremendous
force in our community and we are
proud, as an organization, to sup-
port them."
A cheque for $15,000 is merely
the icing on the proverbial cake.
Scotiabank's' overall contribution
to the United Way 2014-15 cam-
paign amounted to $94,936. It's a
landmark achievement that will
certainly be mentioned at the Spirit
of Community Celebration on
Thursday, April 30, 2015.
This new, larger celebration
replaces two previous UW events.
"The reason for the change is to shift
the focus from funds onto the peo-
ple and organizations who worked
hard to raise it, and most important
of all, onto the impact that the funds
will have on our community,"
explains Nelson Couto, VP Resource
Development & Communications.
The event will take place on
Thursday, April 30th from 6-10 pm at
the Arden Park Hotel. For more
information or to purchase tickets,
visit www.perthhuron.unitedway.ca.
For those who cannot attend but
would like to donate, they give in
person at the United Way office at
32 Erie Street, Stratford; online at
perthhuron.unitedway.ca; or by
phone toll free 1-877-818-8867.

Hensall 4-H Club
Hensall 4-H has started again
and this time it's rug hooking.
Our club name is "The Burlap
Bunch". It is great that Shari Robin-
son of "The Rug Line" is one of our
leaders and lets us use her work-
shop, wool and time to teach us rug
hooking. Rug hooking is very easy,
and it is a great hobby to do.
Our project for the club is to
hook our own design, and enter it
in the Hensall fair.
At our last meeting we tried to
hook with different things you find
around the house like yarn, plastic,
and old shirts.
