20 Huron Expositor • Wednesday, April 15, 2015 Easter season brings hymns and rainfall Ruth Campbell Winthrop correspondent The Easter season has passed. We had a bit of snow but little rain. When I was growing up we were told if it rained on Good Friday we would have rain for forty days - this didn't always happen. The Good Friday service was held at Cavan United Church. Several appropriate scriptures were read and hymns sung. Scripture readers were Rev. Mary Fletcher, Marjorie Papple, Carol Hunt, Carol McClure, Susan MacDonald and Grace Dolmage. Greeters were Don and Maja Dodds. At the Easter Sunday ser- vice the greeters and collec- tors were Carol and Marg McClure. Jim Axtmann lit the Christ candle. The choir sang "Hey Now! Singing Hallelu- jah," and "The Secret Garden:' Minister Mary's message at Cavan was titled "Jesus is Risen" the story of the cruci- fixion and resurrection of Jesus. We are here because of the one solitary life - Jesus. As a wind up to the Thurs- day morning coffee get-togeth- ers, several members travelled to Wellesley to the Schmidt Family Restaurant. About 25 enjoyed the meal which included great desserts. Our family held our Easter get-together at Doug and Vicky Campbell's on Good Friday. FOOD FOR THOUGHT The really frightening thing about middle age is that you know you'll grow out of it. A covered entry, always a boon in inclement weather, leads into a foyer where a 12 -foot ceiling will augment the feeling of roominess. Directly ahead is the open-plan great -room complex. A corner fireplace in the great room is angled to save space, and its cosy glow will also be seen in the dining room and kitchen. The dining room's vaulted ceiling will lend the room a touch of dramatic airiness, and a door onto a sundeck will encourage al fresco meals during the warmer months. Windows overlook a covered deck, perfect for year-round barbecuing. The optional built -out buffet would enhance the dining room's spaciousness. The kitchen is divided from the great room and dining room by a prep island and raised eating bar, configured to make the most efficient use of the area. A roomy pantry will provide extra storage space. The master suite's window looks out to the back garden. In the ensuite, the soaker tub occupies a bayed -out area with its own window. Double basins will ease the morning rush-hour. A roomy walk-in closet completes the lay -out. The second bedroom enjoys its own three-piece bathroom and features an extra -wide window sill. A linen closet is positioned conveniently for both bedrooms. The laundry room, which includes a coat cupboard as well as access to the double garage, will double as a mud room. The double garage might be large enough for a workshop area, and a doorway leads to the side garden. This home measures 43 feet wide by 64 feet deep, for a total of 1,328 square feet of living space, plus the unfinished basement included in the plans.
