During the month of February, Huron County residents were asked for their help to create a superhero mascot for Huron County Library. The library received 28 entries from across the county. "We are thrilled with the creativity, effort and enthusiasm from members of the community to create an exciting and well thought out mascot for the library," Beth Rumble, branch services librarian. The winning entry was submitted by eight-year-old Natalie Walker from Exeter. She created Bob the Book, whose tagline is "Join the Adventure': Natalie wrote a very thoughtful back- ground story that accompa- nied her submission. "A boy names Bob went to the library and found an interesting book about becoming a super hero. Then, he found another book that explained that children do not read enough. He had a BIG IDEA!!! The boy thought he could become a super hero book that delivers books to children. He borrowed the super hero book from the library and read it over and over. The kids learn a lesson and they have fun on the way. Bob has fun too but he knows there are still lots of kids left to go. So now, Bob has a secret power boost that helps him deliver more books to the world!!!" Runners up were 9 -year- old Abby Horton, and 14 -year-old Shannon Squire. The winning entry received a $50 iTunes gift card and the runners up each received a one year Museum membership. The results of the con- test were announced on International Children's Book Day, April 2 on the library's Facebook page.
