Linton
Agroup of ministers fr'orn sev-
eral denoi ivations,, alongwith
other interested lay people, heard
Dr. John Linton speak ,on behalf -
Of the Canada Temperance Act in
First Presbyterian Church on Mon-
day. Dr. Linton, as •secretary of
the -Canadian Temperance Federa
tkii, has had wide experience with
the egis, tant =efforts of the liquor
interests to enlarge their 'enter-
prise. '
He emphasized the fact that
while we .must approach the ques-
tion -of the use of alcohol from- .a
scientific basis, using the' educa-
tional facilities at . our _disposal to
remind • people ,ofthe• nature of
alcohol in its effeett yet we must
recognize, even as ur 'lathers be-
fore ;us, that there is a legal and
a political side "td the problem that
must be attended to with, despatch.,
We in Huron are presented with
an _opportunity now. to "write into
the statute books°'our approval of
the •C,T.A, If we miss this oppor-
tunity now, it may not come our
way again fbr some time, he said.
A question period followed the
address and then the ladies from
the local churches, convened by
I
Miss Jean .Scott, served •a •lovely
lunch, The ladies were thanked: BY.
