toward the 'forming • of a civil de-
fence group. '.
The, chamber had, also been in-
strumental in the building of a new
Post :Office and in 'the formation
the Scouts and -Cubs: Atresent

they were trying to interest, a .den-
tist in opening a practise' in ` the
community. The chamber have
donated $500. to the arena. -

whioh was held in the Legion Hall,

Earl- Dick, Reeve -of. Hibbert: town-

of'Hensall, Mrs. Sam;Rannie,; past
editor, and Mrs E.-R..Davis,-pres-
•ent;editor of the Hensall-Observer,
the paper sponsored by the' Cham-
ber .of':Commerce.

doing. The paper had -been a great
venture for the Chamber. The re-
port showed that at the end of the
year they would break; even. It
:had not been their 'intention to

was issued -free to, all residents of
the district.
Mr. Fiford left a .feeling of 'de-
spondency among the members
when lie said he ;was resigning;as-
president.but he felt' that a man
should ,;bring enthusiasm, into the
organization; but if he carried that
office too long enthusiasm: would
;wane and, that was notgodd - for
any organization.- He recommend:
ed that if a president could not b -e
found, they . form; %a businessman's
association.: Any village: is as pro-
gressive 'asthe men in it, he said._
He thanked Ken, -Christian for the
help he -had • given him,also the
members; ; for their- co-operation
during • the,past year.
