ter, following a lengthy • illness,'
having been a .patient at the hos-
pital. since November of -1958, She
suffered:a stroke on Thursday.
In her 85th; year, she was the
former Helen °Bell, • Eeg.N., 'and
was born on the Bell homestead on.
Highway '4, on the outskirts' of;.
Hensall. Shegraduated as a ;reg-
istered, nurse, in Michigan and con -
tinned in that profession for spme'
years until tier: marriage to, Mr.
-McEwan, who'' predeceased her a-
;
few"years ago.
• She was a beloved, citizen, and
during• her lifetime gave freely to
`all good and .:charitable causes:
without publicity. In'foriner. years
she;waS very, active "in church` and
-various .organizations.
Surviving are two -soils, Hugh
and Jim; two 'grandchildren, 'M'al
colm and Catherine McEwan; one;
brother; Dr. James W. Bell, Hen
;sail,' and one sister, •Mrs. ' 'Margaret
Doan, .of Merrill, Alberta.
