As Dublin InstituteMeets
Christmas was the theme of
tate Dublin Women's Institute
December meeting, held at the
borne of Mrs. Joseph Stapleton.
Mrs. Harold Pethick presided
and extended Christmas greet-
ings to all. Seventeen members
and three guests were present.
The roll call was answered by
each member reciting a Christ-
mas verse or giving the name
of a Christmas song. Each
member brought a gift for
Spruce Lodge. Mrs. Herb Brit-
ton read the minutes of the pre-
ceding meeting, and Mrs. Geo.
Robinson gave the treasurer's
report. Mrs. Fee gave an inter-
esting reading on Santa Claus.
The motto, "Happiness Can
Be Increased by Giving To Oth-
ers," was taken by Mrs. George
Robinson. Mrs. William Smith

Holds Concert
USS 1, Hibbert, Christmas
concert was enjoyed by a large
gathering last week when Fer-
gus Lannin acted as chairman.
Lights were aglitter on the dec-
orated Christmas tree and the
setting was gay and festive.
Mrs. E. Hocking is the teach-
er, and Miss Joy McNaughton
.directed the music, the pro-
gram consisting of choruses,
trios, piano solos, readings, a
play, "The Waiting Room," and
another written by pupil Ethel
Mae Mitchell, entitled, "Family
Troubles."
The children had homemade
candy for sale and the ladies
of the section served a boun-
teous lunch. Santa Claus' ar-
rival was a joy to the kiddies,
and an exchange of gifts was
also held.

It was decided to renew the sub-
scription to the Consumers' As-

and a contest closed the meet-
ing. Lunch was served by Mrs.

When Rebekohs
Hold Lodge Party
The annual Christmas party
of Aniber–Rebekah Lodge was
held Wednesday evening, Dec.
20. Proceeding the party a
brief meeting was held presid-
ed over by Mrs. R. A. Orr, Noble
Grand. Mrs. Eva Parker report-
ed for the CP & T Christmas
project. Mrs. Walter Spencer
showed lovely colored slides of
their trip to the West Coast,
down through the States and
Mexico, and gave a commentary
on them. Mrs. Spencer was pre-
sented a gift. Miss M. Ellis
gave an appropriate reading.
Members exchanged gifts and
a Christmas luncheon was serv-
ed from tea tables attractive in
Christmas decor. Program and
decorating conveners were Mrs.
Pearl Shaddick, Mrs, Eva Park-
er, Mrs. Ross Richardson and
Miss M. Ellis. Lunch conveners
were Mrs. Garnet Mousseau,
Mrs. Inez McEwen, Mrs. Wil-
mer Ferguson and their assist-
ants.

Neylands, Grade V pupils at
Hensall Public School, and
Stephen Arnett, Grade IV pu`'
pil, called at several homes in
the village on Tuesday evening
and entertained with a selec-
tion of carol singing. For their
efforts the boys received $3.95,
which they divided among
them, each one giving their
share to their teachers to be
given to the UNICEF. The boys
received a good reception and
their singing was enjoyed.
At the Town Hall Tuesday
evening, Hensall Scouts and
Girl Guides and their Ieaders
enjoyed a.. joint Christmas par-
ty attended by forty. A pro-
gram of games, prizes and danc-
ing and exchange of gifts high-
lighted the evening. A collec-
tion of $3.35 was received,
which will be forwarded to
CARE. Luncheon was served.

Scane, Suzanne Rannie, Robert
McNaughton and David Buch-
anan.
Mrs. P. A. Ferguson, of Mon-
treal, formerly of Hensall, sang
with the Elgar Choir Chorus in
their rendition of "Handell's
Messiah," and accompanied by
the Montreal Symphony, which
was broadcast Wednesday night,
Dec. 20, at 8 p.m., over the
CBC network.

Mrs. W. F. Riley, of London,
formerly of Hensall, is a pa-
tient in Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don, in the interests of her
health.
Mrs. Russell Brock, RR 2,
Kippen, received word on
Thursday, Dec. 21, that her
name had been drawn in a con-
test. She had deposited her
name in a booth at the West-
ern Fair in September. She re-
ceived a cheque for $5.00.

and Mrs. W. R. Rees, at Ancas-

With Concert
Pupils of Hensall public
school held their annual Christ-.
mas party on Friday with kin-
dergarten pupils holding a lit-
tle party of their own. Grades
1 and 2 sang musical numbers
and a number of the children
participated in a square dance
to recorded music, Grades 3 and
4 sang several selections; 5 and
6 presented a play, "Wanted, a
Housekeeper," with Gary Kyle,
John Goddard, Joan Simmons,
Marilyn Maxwell, Char l"e s
Schwalm, Ruth Smale, Brenda
Noakes and Kathie Henderson
taking the roles. Grades 7 and
8 presented a play, "Operation."
The cast included Billy Chip -
chase, Grant Walker, Brian
Fink and Ricky Buchanan. Gifts
were exchanged.

To Zurich Board
Five persons were nominated
Tuesday for three seats on 'the
Zurich Separate School Board.
Clarence Farwell, returning
officer, said all five nominees
have qualified and that the elec-
tion will be held January 3.
Nominated were Mozart Glin-
as, Mrs. Jack Pearson and Al-
phonse Grenier, all of whom
are on the present board, Leo
Hoffman and William Smith.
The nominating meeting was
held at the Zurich Township
Hall.
