Logan Council
Names Trustees
Logan Council held their fin-
al meeting for 1961 with all
members present, the Reeve
presiding. The report of the
Rapien Municipal Drain was
read, but was not adopted, as
there seemed to be an error
on Con. 12.
Wilfred Nicholson was re-
appointed as Trustee to the Mit-
chell District High School Bo
for the years 1962-63. Road ac-
counts totalling $6,766.57 and
general accounts amounting to
$4,002.12 were ordered paid.

Constance WA
Has Xmas Meet

The Constance WA and WMS
held their Christmas meeting in
the basement of the church on
Wednesday, Dec. 13, with 16
ladies present. Mrs. Lorne Law-
son presided over the WA meet-
ing which was opened by the
hymn, "Silent Night," after-
wards Mrs. Lawson reading,
"Christmas Came For the Shep-
herds," followed with prayer.
Mrs. F. Riley read the minutes
and roll call was answered by
handing in the Christmas Bells.
Several items of business were
dealt with. Mrs. Lawson ex-
tended a vote of thanks to all
for co-operation throughout the
past three years. A hymn was
sung and collection taken, and
the meeting was passed over to
the WMS.
Mrs. W. L. Whyte presided ov-
er the WMS and opened the
meeting with "Words For
Christmas," followed by sing-
ing a hymn. The minutes were
read and adopted. Roll call was
answered by something pertain-
ing to the birth of Christ. Busi-
ness matters were dealt with
regarding committees to the
new organization. Mrs. Don
Buchanan read the Scripture
lesson from second chapter of
St. Matthew, followed with
prayer by Mrs. Reg Lawson, and
a reading by Mrs. Millson en-
titled, "God's Christmas Gift"
and "No Room For Jesus."
At this time Mrs. Ross Mac-
Gregor was called forward and
Mrs. William Jewitt read an
address and presented her with
a life .membership certificate on
behalf of the Constance WMS,
Mrs. MacGregor replied very
suitably, thanking the members
for their thoughtfulness.
A Christmas sale was render-
ed by Mrs. George Mcllwain,
accompanied by Mrs. Wm: Jew-
itt on the piano. A Christmas
paper was given by Mrs. Bor-
den Brown, entitled, "Our
Christmas Faith," and using
verse 15 of second chapter of
St. Luke as the verse of Scrip-
ture. Mrs. Don Buchanan gave
a reading, "Your -Chri`stmas
Guest." Collection was taken
and a hymn was sung, and the
meeting was closed with the
Mizpah benediction. Afterwards
a delicious Christmas lunch was
served and an enjoyable half-
hour was spent.
Court Constantine Meets
The ladies of Court Constan-
tine L-1842 of COF held their
regular meeting last Thursday.
After the business for the eve-
ning and the election of officers
took place, a Christmas pro-
gram was enjoyed: readings by
Sister Mary Riley, entitled "An
Old -Fashioned Sleigh Ride" and
"A Christmas Story" were en-
joyed. A Christmas exchange
of gifts among the ladies was
a highlight of the evening.
Lunch was served.
School Concert
Saturday evening packed
house in S.S. No, 3 School, saw
a wonderful Christmas concert,
sponsored by the children of
the school under their teacher,
Mrs. Livingston, and music
teacher, Mrs. Johnson. Mr. Wal-
ter Scott was the capable mas-
ter of ceremonies.
The program was as follows:
"God Save the Queen"; songs
by the school, "A Christmas
Hello". "Christmas Time-ee-oo",
"Christmas is a Shiny Jewel",
"Christmas Bells", "Christmas
Day", Rev. Funge, minister of
the Londesboro charge, was
called upon and kept the audi-
ence spellbound with his enjoy-
able readings; play, "Lemuel
Little's shock"; .Juniors, "What
Do We Have At Christmas?";
recitation, Lynda Anderson;
play, "In the Best of Families";
recitation, Stewart Glousher;
dance, Tinsel Dance: play, "Too
Much Borrowing"; dance, Eng-
lish Country Dance; Brownies,
by Junior Boys; play, "Slip
Covers"; songs by girls, "The
Little Bell." "Rootie Tootle";
recitation, Mary Wammes; play,
"Who is Important at Christ-
mas?"; song, "Let's Keep the
Christ in Christmas"; play, "The
Shoemaker's Guest"; songs,
"The Child .Jesus", "Away in a
Manger" ; recitation, Agnes
Haverkamp.
A draw for a $10 turkey took
place and winner was Mrs. Law-
rence Hill. of Crediton. A quilt
made for the Mission Band by
their leaders, Mrs. Earl Nott
and Miss Wilma Dale. was auc-
tioned by Mr. Wm, .Jewitt, to
Tom Whyte. This was followed
by a duet, "Winter Wonder-
land," by Misses Mary Mcllwain
and Judy Thompson.
Santa Claus came and gave
out gifts to children. A hearty
