St. James' Holy Name Socie-
ty. met Tuesday evening in the
school auditorium with 26 pres-
ent. James Kelly was in charge
of the meeting. Discussion cen-
tred around the planning of a
trip for the altar' boys of St.
James' Church. It was finally
decided that the boys will be
taken either to Stratford for a
hockey game, or to Kitchener
to see the Ice Capades. F. C. J.
Sills was appointed to make the
arrangements.
Rev. C. E. Sullivan spoke
briefly and presented the past
president's button to Leo Hag-

Lean and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Hay, Hensall, attended the fun-
eral of Mrs. Robert Norris,
Mrs. MacLean's sister, on Fri-
day at London.
Little Diane MacKay, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
MacKay, developed pneumonia
and was taken to Clinton Pub-
lic Hospital.

Shower For Bride -Elect
Kippen United Church was
nicely decorated on Wednesday
evening as friends and neigh-
bors met to honor Kathryn An-
derson on her approaching
marriage on Dec. 16. The pro-
gram was chaired by Mrs. John
Sinclair and was as follows:
Christmas carols, with Mrs.
Ross Broadfoot at the piano;
reading, "What is a Husband?"
by Mrs. Hugh Hendrick; con-
test, by Mrs. Alex Townsend
and Gwen Jones; piano solo,
"Star of the East," by Mrs.
Ross Broadfoot; second contest
by Mrs. Alex Townsend and
Gwen Jones; "It Came Upon the
Midnight Clear," sung by all.
Kathryn was invited to sit
on a chair on the platform and
an address was read by Miss
Marie Sinclair. Miss Joan Sin-
clar and Wendy Jones present -
d the gifts and Mrs. Alex
Townsend and Miss Marion
Turner assisted. Kathryn thank-
ed everyone for the gifts and
invited all to her home to see
her trousseau.
After a tasty lunch, everyone
went to the Anderson home.

WMS Meeting
The December meeting of
the Women's Missionary Society
of Kippen United Church was
held Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 5.
In the absence of the president,
Mrs. Harold Jones took charge
of the meeting, also of the wor-
ship period. The theme of the
worship was, "Three Wise Men."
The hymn, "Angels From the
Realms of Glory" was sung.
-Mrs. Bert Faber read the Scrip-
ture, Matthew 2:1-12. The wor-
ship service was res,. by Mrs.
Jones. The minutes were read
and the roll call taken. A re-
port on the morning session of
the Sectional convention held at
Whalen United Church on Oct.
23 was given by Mrs. Bert Fab-
er and Mrs. Emerson Kyle gave
a report on the afternoon ses-
sion. The offering was taken.
The treasurer, Mrs. Edison Mc-
Lean, gave her report. Hostess-
es were Mrs. Archie Parsons
and Mrs, William Bell. Sun-
shine report was given by Mrs.
Eldon Jarrott, Moved by Mrs.
Ross Broadfoot and seconded
by Mrs. Emerson Kyle, that
Christmas boxes be sent to the
shift -ins.
Rev. A. H. Johnston, showed
a film. "The Other Wise Men."
Mrs. Howard Finkbeiner gave
courtesy remarks and after the
singing of the hymn, '•_ ilent
Night," Rev. Johnston closed
the meeting with prayer.
