THE UNLIMITED POWER which became available to Seaforth with the advent of
Hydro was evident as the community held an Old Boys' Reunion in August, 1914.
Streets that three short years before had been lit by dim bulbs and then only until mid-
night, took on the appearance of day as reunion decorations were installed. The
picture shows the electrical decorations on Main Street looking south from the corner
of Main and Gouinlock Streets.

official and it was a real plea-
sure to work with him.
"The late J. A. Wilson was
our secretary -treasurer, and in
my opinion, one could not find
a more capable, honest, consci-
entious person to fill that posi-
tion."
R. M. Laurie, Western Region
HEPC, represented the Ontario
Commission at the ceremony
and spoke brieflly.
Agreeing that it was essen-
tial that events of importance
in the past be commemorated,
the speaker said that if we do
not look back we are unable to
appraise our successes and our
failures, our good judgment and
our bad judgment.
Pointing out that Hydro is in
a highly competitive position,
Mr. Laurie warned that recog-
nition of the competition was
essential if embarrassing situa-
tions were to be avoided.
"Competition can be met in
two ways, by doing nothing and
losing our business," he said,
"or by getting out and working
and obtaining our fair share of
the market. We, in Hydro,
must now sell and sell hard,
our competitor is no child and
is backed by real resources. So
do not let go for naught, the
institution so many have fought
to build up. We must do our
best to avoid increase in rates,
not only to the householder,
but industry, and most impor-
tant, the farmer."
