NtWS Or CONSTANCE FORESTERS MEET IN CONSTANCE FOR DISTRICT CHURCH PARADE The fistriet of Canadian Or- der of Foresters held an an- nual church parade. Organiz- ing at the Constance COF Hall, about 60 members paraded to Constance United Church Sun- day afternoon, the parade be- ing led by three members of the Goderich Juvenile Pipe Band, and were followed by flags of the Order, carried by 1Qca1 members. Bro. Ed. Dragge, High Marshal of High Court, Brantford: Bro. Wm. Hawk- shaw, district organizer, Kit- chener, and Bro. W. Matzanki, district organizer, Chesley, were in attendance. Rev. Funge, minister of Con- stance United Church, welcom- ed the Foresters as brethren to the church, and also Rev. G. Haussar, High Court Chaplain, of Wingham, who was special speaker. Rev. Haussar took for Scripture. John 14 and entitled his sermon, "Because of You— Because I Live, Ye Shall Live Also." He used many examples of men and women, such as Madame Currie, J. Fluett, Thos. Edison, who have done so much for us" today to think about, but Jesus said: I come so you can have life. His ques- tion was: What is there here because of you? And what is taking place because of you? Our children are what we par- ents make them. Yes, we can be the cause of evil or of good. Because the Lord is my shep- herd, I shall not want. After the service the members marched back to the COF Hall, where lunch was served by the ladies of Court Constantine. Bro. E. McSpadden, Chief Ranger, spoke a few words, thanking all who came, and Rev. Haussar and Rev. Funge, and all who helped in any way to make this day a success. Sis- Dorothy Dalton, President of Court Constantine, also spoke words of appreciation. Members attended from Gode- rich, Benmiller, Wingham, Bluevale, Chesley, Brantford, Kitchener and North York. Next Sunday, Sept. 17, Con- stance United Church will cele- brate their anniversary, with Rev. Lewis, of Auburn, as the guest speaker, with services at 11 o'clock and 7:30 in the eve- ning, with special music. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Preszcator and daughters spent the week- end with Mr, and Mrs. Bob Jen- nison and family of Grand Bend. ° Mr. and Mrs. Ross MacGregor spent last Friday at Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Warren and daughters, of London, spent the weekend with Mr, and Mrs. Reg Lawson, and on Saturday all attended the Lawson -Farqu- har wedding at Holmesville United Church. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jewitt last Friday attended the open- ing of Huronview County Home. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dale were guests at a Iuncheon last Wed- nesday at Harbor Light` Inn, when Pre:hier Frost officiated at the cornerstone laying of the new hospital at Goderich, and on Friday Mr. and Mrs. Dale also attended the official open- ing of Huronviey County Home at Clinton. Mr. Wm. Dale has been busy attending. fairs, judging horses, on Sept. 2 at Elmira, - and on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Tavistock. On Tuesday, Wilma and Deanna Dale both won pen and pencil sets donated by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, when Wilma came first judging in individual score in the intermediate class for swine section, while Deanna came first in the judging in sheep, -with 146 points out of a possible 150. In over-all judg- ing, Wilma came fifth in a class of 86 contestants, and Deanna stood seventh in a class of 90. Misses Wilma •and Deanna Dale spent Tuesday at London Fair, where they participated in the 4-H Judging Competition. NEWS OF HENSALL AREA PUPILS PLAN ENTRIES FOR ANNUAL SCHOOL FAIR Hensall Community Agricul tural School Fair will be stag ed Tuesday at Hensall Arena The event will start with a parade from the Town Hall at 7:30 p.m., headed by the Ban- nockburn Pipe Band, Varna. Schools expected to take part will be Hensall Public School; SS 10, Hay; SS 1, 2 and 10, Tuckersmith; and SS 7, Hib- bert. Fair secretary Peter L. Mc- Naughton announced that the fair will be officially opened by George Jefferson, retired pub- lic school principal, Clinton. Win By Default Manager of the Hensall IOOF Juvenile Ball Club, Ed. Cor- bett, received word Tuesday night that the Hensall Juveniles have been awarded the Ontario Juvenile Baseball Champion- ship, owing to Carlyle failing to show up for the final series. Evening Auxiliary Meets President Mrs. Ron Mock pre- sided for the first fall meeting of the Evening Auxiliary of the United Church, held Monday evening, and extended a wel- come •'to the members and guests. Mrs. Wm. Fuss conduct- ed the devotional period and read Scripture passages, with prayer offered by Mrs. Clendon Christie. Mrs. Fuss read an art- icle on "Faith." Mr. Ron Mock gave interest- ing and informative highlights on the men's conference at Al- ma College, the theme being, "Wake Up and Live." Mr. Mock was thanked by Mrs. Dave Kyle. Brian Smillie sang a lovely solo accompanied at the piano by Miss Greta Laramie. A letter of thanks was read by the secretary, Mrs. Edison Forrest, from Miss Muriel Stam- ford, missionary in India, ex- pressing appreciation for dona- tion of $50 forwarded recently for hospital work, and for gifts Mr. Robert Jamieson are sorry to learn that he is a patient in Clinton Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Lawson of handkerchiefs sent by mem- bers for nurses of the hospital. The visiting committee, Mrs. Robert Cook' and Mrs. Don Joynt, reported having made 15 calls on the sick and shut- ins. Discussion was held regard- ing a bazaar, to be held the last Saturday in October. Mrs. Sim Roobol, who returned last week from a three months' va- cation to Holland, gave a de- lightful account of her trip and happenings while in Holland. She was much enjoyed, and, was thanked by the president. Hostesses were Mrs. Walter Spencer and Mrs. Wm. Mickle. A pot -luck lunch was served. Rev. D. Ross MacDonald at- tended the Huron - Maitland Presbytery at Blyth on Tues- day of this week. 'The Women's Missionary So- ciety - of Carmel Church held their September meeting Mon- day evening with Mrs. Earl Campbell, president, presiding. Mrs. Alex McGregor and Miss Hannah Murray took the devo- tional. Mrs. Campbell read ex- cerpts from the Glad Tidings on activities of missionaries, and plans were made for the fall thankoffering to be held in October. The Ladies' Aid followed with routine business. Plans were made for a turkey sup- per to be held Oct. 3. Teams from Hensall entered in the Zurich Ladies' Bowling League are: Mrs. L. E.
