is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs,
Raymond L. Cooper and grand-
daughter of Mr. and Mis. W.
R. Cooper, Kippen, and the
groom is the son of Mr. and
• Mrs. Murray Scott, all of Exe-
ter.
A reception was held at the
Town and Country Club. Fol-
lowing a wedding trip to Ken-
tucky, the couple will reside
in Exeter.
Londoner Wins
Kippen Shoot
Charlie Parkinson, London,
won the Kippen Gun Club tro-
• phy at the Labor Day shoot at
Kippen Sunday afternoon, with
45 out of 50. Jack ZeIlas, St.
Thomas, also scored 45 out of
50, but was defeated in the
shoot -off.
John Anderson, of Hensall,
scored 44out of 50; Harry Math-
• ers, Exeter, 43-50. Winner of
the special 25 -bird handicap,
was Zellas, 24-25; Parkinson, 24-
25; George McAteer, St. Thom-
as, 22-25; John Anderson, 22-25,
Anderson won the double- ev-
ent with 23-24; Gordon John-
ston, Chatham, 20-24. High ov-
• er all 100 mixed targets, An-
derson was high with 89, Park-
inson 87, Mathers 83, Zellas 82,
McAteer 81.

mitted to South Huron Hospital
Saturday night with head in-
juries following an accident in-
volving a hit-and-run driver, at
St. Joseph on Highways 84 and
21. Mr. Mansfield was driving
west on the highway and stop-
ped at a stop sign. A hit-and-
run car came from behind and
struck their car, causing it to
roll over three times. The hit-
and-run driver continued on
driving south. It is believed
he' ' was driving a 1958 or 1959
Pontiac. Westlake ambulance,
of Zurich, took them to hospi-
tal. Mr. Mansfield received min-
or cuts and bruises. Mrs. Mans-
field is the former Eleanor Ven-
ner, a recent bridal couple of
August 26. Rusty, a valuable pet
dog, owned by Mr. Lloyd Ven-
ner, who was in the car with
them, became lost, but Mr. Ven-
ner drove back on Sunday and
located him.
To Induct Minister
Friday, Sept. 8„ Huron -Mait-
land Presbytery will induct
Rev. D. Ross MacDonald into the
ministry of Carmel Presbyter-
ian Church, which will be fol-
lowed with •a reception for Mr.
and Mrs. MacDonald and fam-
ily. Mr. MacDonald, who will
occupy his own pulpit Sunday,
Sept. 10, came to Hensall from
Springhill, N.S., where he was
minister of St. David's Presby-
terian Church there since 1958.
Mrs. MacDonald (nee Nancy
Seaton) is a graduate nurse of
Brockville General Hospital.
They have two children, Ruth
Anne, 2% years old, and David
Allan, 13 months.
Bride -Elect Showered
Mrs. Orville Jones was hos-
tess for a miscellaneous shower
held at the Queensway Nurs-
ing Home, Hensall, Wednesday
evening, Aug.' 30, for Miss Jan-
et Duizer, of Londesboro, a
nurses' aid at the nursing home
and a bride -elect of September.
Twenty employees and former
employees of the nursing home
attended. Mrs. Jones read the
presentation address to the
guest of honor, and Miss Louise
Jones and Miss Agnes Oesch,
of Zurich, presented the lovely
gifts in a decorated basket of
pink and white motif. They al-
so assisted in unwrapping the
gifts and reading the cards.
Mr. Norman Shiels, Jr., of
Amberley, visited on Sunday
with his sister and brother-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Al-
lan and family.
Mrs. Carl Payne sang a love-
ly solo, `Bless This House," at
the United Church Sunday
morning. Rev. Currie Winlaw
delivered an inspiring message,
and Miss Greta Lammie was at
the organ console.
Mr. David Dignan has been
admitted as a patient at
Queensway Nursing Home, Hen-
sall.
Beverly Corneil, 7, son of Mr,
and Mrs. Cornell, who has been
a patient in War Memorial Chil-
dren's Hospital, London, in the
interests of his health, return-
ed home on Sunday,
Mrs. Sim Roobol, who has
been vacationing in Holland, ar-
rived in Montreal Saturday and
visited a niece there, and re-
turned to Hensall Tuesday. She
left Hensall June 9th.
Mrs. Gertrude Dayman is hav-
ing the exterior of her house
painted in white and red. Bill
Shaddick is doing the work.
Steven, 15, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ted Kunlorkewiez, of St.
Catharines, was awarded a gold
medal, placing firsi with ac-
cordion• solo at the CNE, To-
ronto, in a class of 22 entries,
with 91 per cent. He received
a special invitation to play at
an accordion recital at the CNE
Tuesday evening, Aug. 29, a 15 -
minute period. He has also en-
tered in competition of Homer
Accordions, Toronto, in Novem-
ber. Playing in cmpetitions
since he was 10, he has won
numerous medals, cups, schol-
arships and awards. His mother
is the former Shirley Hedden,
of Hensall; his grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hedden,
St. Catharines, and he is a
great grandson of Mrs. Cathar-
ine Hedden and Mr Fred Ken-
nings, of Hensall.
Mr. George Beer is a patient
in South Huron Hospital, Exe-
ter, in the interests of his
health.
Hensall Community Agricul-
tural School Fair will be held
at the Arena Tuesday, Sept. 19.
Sandra Sangster, London, and
Margaret and Nancy Stretton,
of Lucan, have returned after
spending a week with their
grandmother, Mrs. Minnie
Sangster.
Miss Betty Parker, London,
spent the weekend at her home.

ble and single each spearhead-
ed the Hensall attack, while
pitcher Steve Kyle got two sin-
gles, Harry Moir a double, and
Bob Mickle a single. The ,Brig -

David Noakes, student of
South Huron District High
School, received word that he
has been awarded a student -aid
bursary of $500 from the De-
partment of Education. David
is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Noakes.
Mrs. William G. Kennedy suf-
fered a sever stroke on Satur-
day evening and was taken by
Bonthron ambulance to Victor-
ia Hospital, London.
The CP & T fund committee
of the IOOF and Amber Rebek-
ah Lodges assisted the Van Es-
broeck family, recently burnt
out in a disastrous fire last
week, by donating new bedding
and kitchen utensils. Mrs. Inez
McEwen is • chairman of the
committee.
Donald Hedden, of Clinton,
formerly of Hensall; was admit-
ted to Westminster ' Hospital,
London, by ambulance on Fri-
day last, suffering with • conges-
tion of the lungs. Donald was
injured in an accident over a
year ago, and is paralyzed from
the waist down, and is confin-
ed to a wheel chair. Thirty
years of age, he returned home
to Clinton to his wife and fam-
ily seven months ago from the
hospital.
The Women's Missionary .So-
ciety of the United Church will
hold their first meeting of the
fall season on Thursday, Sept.
7. The meeting will precede a
pot -luck supper at 6:30 p.m.
Mrs. E. Geiger, of London, wilt
be guest 'speaker, and Mrs. W.
H. Weeks' group will be in
charge.,
The '4Hensall Women's Insti-
tute will hold their first meet-
ing of the fall season Wednes-
day, Sept. 13, with a pot luck-
sunper at 6:30 p.m., to be fol-
lowed with a brief meeting and
entertainment.
Mr. and Mrs. John Beer and
family returned to Barrie on
Monday after a two weeks' va-
cation at Schade View.
Ron Broderick, of Kitchener,
spent the weekend holiday at
his home here.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Shiels,
of Belgrave, visited on Satur-
day with their daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Garnet
Allan and family. Their grand-
daughter, Margaret Allan, who
spent two weeks holidaying
with them, returned home with
them. -
Huron Farm News
Threshing and combining of
spring grain is only about half
completed. Fields that have
been swathed for a period of
time are loosing heads and
grain as soon as they are mov-
ed by combine or side delivery
rake. --
Some fall wheat will be seed-
ed this week and will go in in
excellent condition.
Some movement of cattle in-
to the county from the West
has taken place. Pastures are
excellent for growth.

HENSALL--Mrs. DavId Dig

mut, a highly esteerraed resi-
dent of Hensall passed away in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
on Saturday, Sept. 2, having.
been a patient in the hospital
since June 21.
The former Annie H. Beck,
she was in her 77th year, and
took up residence here with her
husband nine years ago, from
Hay Township, where Mr. Dig-
nan farmed. She was a member
of Hensall ignited Church and'
often assisted the members of
the Women's Missionary Socie-
ty at their quiltings when health
permitted.
Surviving are her husband;
three sons, Harold and Earl, of
RR 2, Hensall, and Harvey, of
Dorchester. She was predeceas-
ed by a brother, William, of
London, six years ago.
Private funeral services were
held Monday from the Bon-
thron Funeral Home, conduct-
ed by Rev. Currie Winlaw. Bur-
ial was in Exeter cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don and Bill
Beck, Edison and Ross Forrest,
Sam and William Thomson.
Flowerbearers were Elmer
Keys, Albert Alexander, Wil-
liam Forrest and Fred Parsons.
There were many lovely floral
tributes.
GEORGE WALKER
HENSALL—George Walker, a
highly respected resident of
Hensall, passed away at • his
home Wednesday evening, Aug.
29, in his 83rd year. Born near
Seaforth, he farmed in Tuck‘r-
smith and later in McKillop be-
fore up, :residence in
Heisall 25 years rage, where he
conducted a poultry' and egg

been cared for by his wife dur-
ing those years.
When his health permitted,
he was an active member of
Carmel Presbyterian Church,
and a member of Hensall IOOF
Lodge 223, and a service was
conducted by that organization
at the funeral chapel'Fhursday
evening.
Surviving are his widow, the
former Ella Grassick; one son,
Donald, St. Petersburg, Fla.;
two daughters, Miss Olive Walk-
er, Reg.N., of St. Petersburg,
Fla., Helen, Mrs. George A.
Gould, London; one grand-
daughter, Miss Diane Gould, of
London; one brother, Hugh
Walker, near Clinton, and one
sister, Mrs. Mary MacDougall,
of Underwood.
Largely attended funeral ser-
vices were held from the Bon-
thron Funeral Chapel Saturday,
conducted by Rev. D. Leslie
Elder, of Seaforth. Interment
was in Baird's cemetery. Floral
tributes were many and lovely.
Pallbearers were Joe McLellan,
Bruce Walker, Wilson McCart-
ney, Dave Papple, Wilbert bill-
ing and Frank Wildfong.
Members of the family attend-
ing the funeral were Donald
Walker, of St. Petersburg, Fla.,
and Mrs. Gould, of London. Oth-
er relatives attended from To-
ronto, Leamington, London, Un-
derwood, Clinton and Seaforth
