Hurondale Women's institvte
Entertains Families at Barbecue
Hurondale Women's Institute
• entertained their families at a
"barbecue" Wednesday evening,
at Riverview Park, Exeter. After
the roll call and a short busi-
ness program, in which Mrs.
Arthur Rundle was elected dele-
gate to the "Tweedsmuir His-
tory" convention at Brantford.
* Invitations to picnics at Sea -
forth, August 9, and Dashwood,
August 16, were accepted.
Mrs. William Dougall led in a
splendid program of sports, con-
sisting of relay races, contests,
etc., after which the lunch com-
mittee served a delicious barbe-
cue supper. Committee were:

Finds Seven -Leaf Clover
Harold Parker, Hensall, has
found a seven -leaf clover and
August should be his lucky
month. He reported multi -leaf
clovers in abundance, and said
that there were literally hun-
dreds of four-leaf clovers in
the patch from which he select-
ed the seven-leafer. The "lucky
seven" is on display at Bert's
Snack Bar in the village.
Playground Activities
A parade of 50 hobos from
the Hensall playground paraded
up Main street Thursday morn-
ing, when a splendid array of
various hobo costumes high-
lighted the parade. Preceeding
the parade Suzanne Kyle was
chosen Queen and Danny -Cam-
eron, King, in the 10 year class,
and Susan Broadley was select-
ed Princess and Mac Williams,
Prince, in the under 10 class.
An outdoor meal of pork and
beans, French bread and pop
was served to the children.
Tour Eastern USA
Mrs. Pearl Shaddick and Mrs.
Inez McEwen, who recently re-
turned from a two weeks' vaca-
tion at Cape Cod, Mass., re-
port a very delightful holiday,
travelling over 2,000 miles by
motor in which they enjoyed a
boat trip to Nantucket Island,
toured through Providence, saw
acres of cranberries, visited
Plymouth where the Pilgrims
landed, and saw the May
Flower, the boat in which the
Pilgrims crossed the ocean to
come to Canada. They were ac-
companied by Miss Elvira
Churchill, Toronto, and Mrs.
Norma Churchill, of Dwight,
Ont.
Fourteen Girl Guides from
Hensall left Sunday to spend 10
days at Huronia Area Girl Guide

Hensall Couple
On Western Trip
Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle,
Bob and Ann returned home the
beginning of last week after a
four and a half weeks' motor
trip through the West. They
• left home June 29 and drove
through the States as far as
Glacier National Park, where
they spent three days, and then
on to Calgary, spending four
days taking in the Calgary
Stampede, touring the city and
visiting relatives. They saw the
• wonderful parade and chuck
wagon races the opening day of
the stampede.
Banff was their next stop,
then on to Lake Louise and
Field, B.C. They returned to
Lake Louise, drove from there
to Jasper. On their way to Jas-
per they stopped at the famous
Columbia Ice Fields. They spent
three days in Edmonton and
two in Brandon, and toured
these cities, and also went
through Regina, Saskatoon, Win-
nipeg, and on to Fort William
and Port Arthur.
• From there they drove around
the northern shore of Lake'•Su-
perior and Sault Ste. Marie,
then went on to Espanola and
down into Manitoulin Island,
where they spent three 'days at
Little Current, touring the is-
land and fishing. They crossed
• over to Tobermory by boat from
South Baymouth, taking three
hours, then on home.
They visited relatives at
Pincher Creek, Calgary, Edmon-
ton and Vermillion, in Alberta,
also an aunt and two cousins in
Brandon, and an aunt and sev-
• eral cousins and their families
in Pilot Mound and Snowflake
in Manitoba. It was the first
time Mr. and Mrs, Mickle had
ever been West, and report a
marvellous trip, beautiful scen-
ery and excellent highways
nearly all the way.

spend two weeks with relatives
in Vancouver, B.C.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Robinett
and daughter, of Peterborough,
England, are spending t h e
month of August with Mr. and
Mrs. W. O. Goodwin and Mary.
Mrs. Robinett is a sister of Mr.
Goodwin, and this is their first
visit to Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Alexan-
der, David and Susan, of
Georgetown, were the weekend
guests with Mr, and Mrs. Al-
bert Alexander. The former is
a nephew of Mr. Alexander.
Miss Mary Goodwin has re-
turned from a week's vacation
at Shadie View.
Mrs. Robert Cook and Caro-
lyn visited last week with the
former's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
N. Hildebrand, at Wheatley.
Mr, and Mrs. Don Joynt and
family and Mr. and Mrs. Carey
Joynt and son, of Bethlehem,
Pa., are vacationing at Shadie
View.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Hubbert
and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sararas
and family, Toronto, were week
end visitors with Mrs. S. Sar-
aras.
Beth Sararas, Toronto, who
has been spending the past
three weeks with her grand.
mother, Mrs. S. Sararas, of
town, and with her aunt and
uncle, Mr, and Mrs. Ross Sar-
aras, Cromarty, returned home
on Monday.
Mrs. Albert Shaddick, Clin-
ton, was a guest Thursday with
her sister-in-law, Mrs. Pearl
Shaddick.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Cook and
Carolyn have returned from
holidaying at Olive Lake, near
North Bay.
Mr. Sim Roobol left Saturday
from Montreal by jet for Am-
sterdam, Holland, to holiday
with his parents and relatives
and rejoin his wife at Oud-
Beyerlend, Holland, who is on
vacation there. He expects to
return August 25.
Mrs, Robert McKenzie has re-
turned after spending a week
holidaying at Turnbull's.
Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Cook are
vacationing at Lions Head and
other places.
Karen Sararas, of Cromarty,
has been visiting with her
grandmother, Mrs. S. Sararas.
Reeve V. L. Becker and Coun-
cillor John H. Soldan, of Hay
Township, were in Toronto on
Thursday, on business.
Mrs. N. P. Warrener, of Pon-
tiac, Mich., formerly of Hensall,
accompanied by her daughter,
Ruth, and family, spent Thurs-
day with Mr. and Mrs. C. L.
Jinks and called on friends in
the village.

Mrs. Emerson Kyle and Jim
accompanied Emerson as far as
Midland and Barrie, where they
enjoyed a few days last week,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dickert, of
Harriston, visited during the
week with Mr. and Mrs. Nor-
man Dickert.

McBride spent a few days in
the Muskoka District, visiting
Sharon who is spending the
summer at Bigwin Inn, Lake of

Mrs. J. Howe, of Woodstock,
visited over the holiday with
her sister and brother, Miss
Margaret and Oliver MacKay.
Miss Margaret MacKay, who
has been hospitalized seven
weeks in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, returned to her home
on Saturday.
South Huron Youth For Christ
held their annual chicken bar-
becue Saturday evening at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Elzar
Mousseau, with about 150 peo-
ple in attendance. A sing -song
was enjoyed by the young peo-
ple, and Mr. Lorrie Stuckey, of
Wingham, was guest speaker.

Hensall Church
Rev. D. Ross MacDonald, who
has been called to Hensall Pres-
byterian Church, arrived in
Hensall by,, car on Saturday.
Mrs. MacDonald (nee Nancy
Seaton) is a graduate nurse of
Brockville General Hospital.
They have two children, Ruth
Anne, 23(2 years old, and David
Allan, 13 months.
After completing high school,
Mr. MacDonald attended Pro-
vincial Normal College in Tru-
ro, N.S„ and taught school for
three years. He graduated in
Arts (B.A.) from Dalhousie Uni-
versity, Halifax, N.S., and
Theology from Presbyters
College, Montreal. He was min-
ister of St. David's Presbyterian
Church, Springhill, N.S., since
1958, and was there during the
mine disaster in which 75 men
were killed.
Mr. MacDonald .will spend a
week or two in Brockville at
his wife's home. On September
8th, the Huron -Maitland Presby-
tery will induct Mr. MacDonaId
into Carmel Presbyterian
Church in Hensall. He will be-
gin his services on Sept. 10th.
