200 Guests Attend
Anniversary Tea
More than 200 guests attended
the second anniversary tea of Hur-
on County Ladies' Auxiliary to the
County Home, held Wednesday af-
ternoon, June 28, at "Huronview."
Mrs. Harvey Johnston, matron of
Huronview, and Mrs. Fred Thomp-
son, president of the auxiliary, re-
ceived the guests, who were usher-
ed to the tea room by some of the
residents, while others were guides
on a conducted tour of Huronview,
prearranged by Mr. and Mrs. John-
ston and which was much enjoyed
by the guests.
Baskets of June flowers were
everywhere, making a pleasing set-
ting for the lovely appointed tea
table, which was covered with a
hand-crotcheted lace banquet cloth,
the work of a former matron, Mrs.
Jacob, and presented by her to
Huronview.
The table was centred with a
low silver bowl of roses, flanked
by lighted candles in silver hold-
ers.
The tea room was convened by
Mrs. W. C. Bennett, Clinton. Pour-
ing tea for the first hour was Mrs.
James Livermore and Mrs. George
Mann, who were followed by Mrs.
Ivan Forsyth, Mrs. William Manag-
han, Mrs. John Hanna, Wingham,
and Mrs. Pearcy Graham.
Assisting in serving were Mrs.
George Mann, Mrs, L. G. Winter,
Mrs. Edward Porter, Mrs. jack El-
liott, Miss Patricia Harland and
Miss Janet McMillan.
The competent kitchen convener
was Mrs. Mitchell McAdam, who
was assisted by Mrs. Violet Hale -
good, Mrs. Chester Higgins and
Mrs. Edith Logan.
Mrs, Keith Webster, Blyth, was
saleslady at the craft tables, which
was the work of the residents and
found ready sale. Mrs. Gordon
Manning was in charge of the
guest book.

TO THE EDITOR:
July 3, 1961.
Editor, The Huron Expositor:
Dear Sir: Much discussion has
been printed and televised on the
so-called weakening of the mar-
riage bond since the "Shady Lady"
case. While it is true that, statis-
tically speaking, divorce has be-
come a spreading evil, it seems to
us that unless we recognize mar-
riage as a true sacramental voca-
tion, many more marriages will
founder.
In order that married couples,
young and old, will deepen their
sense of vocation in marriage, the
Christian churches, especially the
Anglican and United Churches,
have established Family Guidance
Bureaus, Marriage Counselling
Courses, etc. The Roman Catholic
Church has set up "Cana Confer-
ences" and Married Couples' Week-
end Retreats. These retreats are
essentially a two-day withdrawal
from the busy workaday world,
where they pray, meditate and lis-
ten to a series of talks by an ex-
perienced adviser.
Catholics in the Seaforth are
invited to write to Rev. A. L.
Meloche, Holy Family Retreat
House, R.R. 1, Harrow, Ontario, for
information with regard to the
Civic Holiday weekend retreat for
married couples.
Sincerely yours,
Mr. & Mrs. Oswald J. Bondey,
79 Douglas Street,
Stratford, Ontario.

What's so different about
T -D Travellers' Cheques?
All Canadian banks sell Travellers' Cheques so that you
can avoid the necessity of carrying large amounts of cash
with you when you go away on a holiday or a business trip.
But when you buy your Travellers' Cheques from your
Toronto -Dominion branch, you get not just a convenient
banking service, but something extra, too — a genuinely
interested and helpful attitude on' the part of the people in
"The Bank".
•
•
Our accountants are the
MOST HELPFUL you'll find
There's nothing complicated about arranging the purchase
of Travellers' Cheques ... George Czukar, Accountant at our
Yonge and Hayden branch in Toronto has done it hundreds
of times. Chances are he'll get just as excited about the
trip you're going to take as you are ... and he'll advise you
as to the best and most effective way to handle your Travel-
lers' Cheques. He'll do this with a smile and perhaps even
a little envy.
We can tell you one thing for sure. Your trip to "The
Bank" to buy Travellers' Cheques will be a very pleasant
experience indeed.
But it doesn't really matter what banking service you
need, you'll find people like George behind the counter of
every Toronto -Dominion branch across Canada. They're
friendly, helpful and efficient. They take a great deal of
pride in the kind of service they have to offer. Meet theist
soon and discover for yourself how much - .
