Wed 45 Years
Mr. and Mrs. William Bennewies,
Sr., RR 1, Bornholm, were pleas-
antly surprised on the occasion of
their 45th wedding anniversary,
when their family, relatives and
neighbors gathered in the club
room of the Community Hall,
Brodhagen, to celebrate with
them last Thursday evening.
The evening was spent in play-
ing progressive euchre, with priz-
es going to Mrs. Norman Eggert
and Albert Eickmeir, Mrs. Edwin
Rock and Harvey Bennewies.
Miss Marie Meyer read an ad-
dress, which was prepared by Mrs.
Fred Herbert, 'and they were. pre-
sented with electric tea kettle, elec-
tric fry pan, smoking stand, can-
nister set, stainless steel cook-
ware and other gifts.
Relatives attended from Detroit,
Kitchener, Mitchell and surround-
ing district. Lunch was served.
Mrs. Bennewies is the former
Frieda Kahle and they have a
family of three sons and two daugh-
ters: Harvey, Kitchener; Ivan, RR
1, Bornholm; Fred, at home; Mrs,
Alvin (Ellen) Schellenberger, Mit
chell; Mrs. Wilfred (Vera) Phelke,
Monkton, and a number of grand-
children.
Mrs. Emma Campbell, of Vic-
toria, B.C., is visiting her sister,
Mrs. Edward Scherbarth, Sr., and
Mr. Scherbarth.

telephone call recently from her
husband, stationed with the army
in Egypt. '

were in Toronto on Friday and
Saturday.
Mrs. Albert Hinz returned home
from Stratford Hospital,
Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Wolfe and
Mrs, Dick Watson and sons with
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Soper in -Kit-
chener on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Beuermann
attended the wedding of their
niece, Miss--lelayda Beuermann, to
Ronald Scoins in Seaforth on Sat-
urday.
The Community Forum members
held a picnic at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Lew Hicks on Sunday af-
ternoon.
The Brodhagen Band and six ma-
jorettes took part in the band tat-.
too parade in Atwood on Friday
night. The band members are
making final arrangements for
thei rannual band social, which is
to be held next week.
The wedding reception, for Mr.
and Mrs. Ronald Getke (Carole
Rose) was held in the Commun-
ity Hall on Friday evening.
Mr. Larry Trentowsky, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Trentowsky,
was seriously injured in a car ac-
cident on Saturday night near St.
Clements. He' is' Confined to' Kit-
chener, Hospital,
Miss Elaine Bennewies, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Benne-
wies, has taken a position at the
Public Utilities Commission, Mit-
chell.
Mrs: Douglas .itcheson and
Rock, of Niagara Falls, are spend-
ing a week with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs, Edwin Rock, while Doug
is attending a convention in Ham-
ilton.
FIRESIDE FELLOWSHIP GROUP
The June meeting of the Fire-
side Fellowship group of First
Presbyterian Church, Seaforth, met
at the summer home of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Kling on Tuesday eve-
ning to enjoy a delicious pot -luck
supper. Following the meal a
regular meeting was held, with
Miss Alice Reid in the chair. "A
Thought For the Day” and the
Lord's Prayer opened the meeting.
A' successful report on the bake
sale was given and plans were
discussed for a minstrel show, to
be held in the fall. The Septem-
ber meeting is to be held at the
summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Gor-
don Beuttenmiller, which will in-
clude a visit to the salt mines at
Goderich.
A nominating committee report-
ed the officers of the coming year
as follows: President, Miss Alice
Reid; vice-president, Mrs. Gordon
Beuttenmiller; secretary, Mrs. R. K.
McFarlane; treasurer, Miss Janet
Cluff; devotional convener, Mrs.
Frank Kling; pianist, Mrs. John
Cardno.
Miss Alice Reid thanked the
Klings for the lovely evening, and
the meeting closed.
