Hold Enjoyable Social A euchre party and social eve- ning was held in St. Patrick's par- ish hall on Friday evening, spon- sored by the Catholic Women's League. Twenty-five tables of progressive euchre were in play, Frank Cronin winning the gentle- men's prize, and Mrs. Jim Mc- Quaid, the ladies' prize. An orch- estra was in attendance and sup- plied the music. Lunch was serv- ed by the officers in charge, CWL Hears Guest Speaker Mrs. Joseph McConnell, of Sea - forth, was the guest speaker at the April meeting of the Catholic Women's League, held in the par- ish hall with a good attendance of its members. Mrs. McConnell gave a very instructive talk on the League and her association with it, and the spiritual and temporal graces it meant for all Catholic women to be members. She was introduced by the president, Mrs. Fergus Horan. Mrs. Holland and Mrs. Dean gave the secretary and treasurer's reports, followed by Mrs. Dan O'Rourke with the spiritual; Mrs. Fergus Stapleton with the - press; Mrs. John Van Geffen with Educa- tion, and Mrs. Frank Kintner with membership. On April 26, a High Mass will be offered in honor of Our Lady of Good Counsel and all members are requested to attend. An Irish dance was much enjoy- ed by Norah Ann MacRae, Berna- dette Nagle and Mary Helen Duch- arme. Paul Horan gave a piano selection. Plans for a social- eve- ning were arranged. The meeting was adjourned and lunch served. VINCENT C. DILLON DUBLIN -Vincent Clement Dil- lon died Monday night in West- minster Hospital, London, in his 64th year. He was the son of the late William Dillon and Margaret O'Dea, and the last member of a family of ten. He is survived by several nephews and nieces. He was a former member of St, Patrick's Church, Dublin, and a member of the League of the Sac- red Heart, the Propogation of the Faith and the Holy Name Society. The body rested at the Burke funeral home till Thursday, when Requiem High Mass was sung at 9:30 by Rev. R. Durand at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Dublin. The pallbearers were Clayton Looby, Sylvester Ryan, John Campbell, Frank Dillon, Jas. Kelly and Raymond Dillon. Burial took place in St. Patrick's ceme- tery. Hospital Aid Holds Bridge The Women's Hospital -Auxiliary held a bridge and .euchre party at the nurses' residence Wednesday. Winners were: Bridge: Mrs. Bruce MacMillan, Miss Olive Laid- law; gents, John Bach. Euchre: Mrs. R. Bethune, Mrs. M. Kerr. Lucky cup was won by Mrs. Ken Macrae, Dublin. Proceeds from the dVent will go towards the new hostital Jack Burchill, on a bus tont' for four days, left Kitchener Wednes- day noon, arriving a( Fort Wayne, Indiana, about 5, o'clock. They went to Valparasa on Thursday and saw a beautiful church, ¢eat- ing 3,000 people. On Friday they went to the Walther League head- quarters at Chicago. Carolyn and Bob, along with 34 other young people, visited the universities an colleges. They were chaperoned by Rev, and Mrs. Kuhl, from Hum- berstone. They visited the Teach- ers' College at River Forest, near Chicago, and on Saturday visited the School of the Deaf at Detroit. They arrived at Kitchener around 11 o'clock Saturday night. The bus tour was sponsored by the Luth- eran Church Missouri Synod. BLAKE Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Erb and family visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Oesch and fam- ily. A number of folks of this vicin- ity accompanied by others left Fri- day by bus for Massey Hall, To- ronto, where they attended a mus- ical service. Mr. Hughie McBride, London, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Deichert and Miss Mary Finlay, Zurich, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Roy McBride and Johnny. Mr. Harold Finlay and family spent Sunday evening with Mr, and Mrs. Campbell McKinley and Robert. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bailey, of Stratford, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. .James Dinsmore, Zurich. There appears to be ample feed for live- stock till grass time.
