SEAFORTH DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL
BUS DRIVERS ATTEND MEETING
More than 100 school bus drivers,
operators and representatives of
school boards attended a safety
meeting at the Clinton High School
auditorium. The meeting was one
of a series sponsored by the School
Bus Operators' Association of On-
tario, the Ontario Department of
Transport and the Transportation
Safety Association across Ontario.
A film, "Precious Cargo," show-
ed the progress made in safety in
school transportation over the
years.
George Moore of the Transpor-
tation Safety Association spoke on
accident control and the need for
co-operation between operators,
drivers, school boards and the pub-
lic'. Hstressed the need for
competent drivers.
Gerald Lackie, senior inspector
for the department of transport,
reviewed the examination given
school buses periodically by de-
partment inspectors.
Norton Van Camp, a director of
the School Bus Operators' Associa-
tion, spoke on safety from a school
bus operator's point of view. He
felt school boards should be bet-
ter acquainted with the equipment

A SMILE OR TWO
Mother was busy in the kitchen
when Junior asked, "Daddy
wouldn't murder anybody, would
he?"
"Gracious no, what made you
ask • that?"
"Well, I heard him down in the
basement saying. 'Let's kill the
other two, Joe'.'
An old man was sitting on the
porch of a little village store when
a big shiny car drove up with two
strangers in it. "Hi, there," one
of the men called, "How long has
this town been dead?"
"Not long," answered the native,
"you're the first buzzards I've'
seen!"
A student working on juvenile
delinquency reported having diffi-
culty in collecting data. His pro-
ject was to telephone a dozen
homes around 9 p.m. and ask the
parents if they knew where their
children were. "My first five calls,"
he said, "were answered by chil-
dren who had no idea where their
parents were!"
they are getting. He also recom-
mended that school bus drivers
have first aid training.
Attending from Seaforth were
all Seaforth District High School
bus drivers: Scott Habkirk, Tom
Wilbee, Albert Hildebrand, George
Hildebrand, Ken Powell and Rae
Townsend.
