He pioneer- ed in a number of new phases of medicine and was working on a book of 'his memoirs. "Rev. Matthew Bailie, who con- ducted the service, held from the Gardiner Funeral Home to the United Church, said evidence of his unselfish service to his many patients was manifested through- out his full practice. Dr. Eberhart was active in the Community. He was a charter member and past president of the Meaford Rotary Club and was a past chairman of the Meaford Pub- lic School Board, the Meaford High School Board and a member of the Library Board. He was a member of . Pythagoras Lodge A.F. and. A. M. No. 137, and served on the Board of Trustees of the Meaford United Church of which he was a member. "Born at Seaforth, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eberhart. Following graduation from University of Toronto, he came to Meaford in 1916 to take over the practice of the late Dr. Joseph Jordan. He ,,was married to the former Elsie- Patton, who survives with one daughter Fran- ces, Mrs. Andrew Gardner, of Agincourt, and four grandchildren, Ann, Bobby, Frankie and Janie. Mrs. H. E. Smith was in Mil- verton last weekend attending the funeral of her mother, the late Mrs. John Zimmerman. Mi. and Mrs. Gerald Stewart and family, of Toronto, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Harry Stewart. Mr. Paul Dunn and Master Bill Dunn, of Brandon, Man., were weekend visitors of Mrs. N. Dunn. 'Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Coughlin, of London, spent the weekend with her sister, Miss Alice Reid. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kling spent the weekend in Ancaster. Mr. Wm. Manson accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence- Arm- strong and family, of Sarhia, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jackson. OBITUARIES HARVIE J. DORRANCE Word was received here Tuesday of the sudden death that day of Harvie J. Dorrance, at Victoria, B.C. Eldest "son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Dorrance, of McKil- lop, he had resided in the West for many years. When war was de- clared in 1914, he returned to Sea - forth and enlisted in the First Bats talion, First Brigade. He served overseas for four years receiving the Military Cross and the Military Medal, and gained the rank of Lieutenant. Returning home from overseas, he again went West, where he has since resided. He farmed in the Carragana district. In 1921 he married Miss Nina Copeman, of St. Thomas, who had been a nursing sister in the war. In World War II he again joined the Armed Forces and held the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He was a member of the Liberal par- ty and represented the Tisdale constituency for four years. Some years ago he moved to Victoria, B.C., where he has since resided. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Patsy, Mrs. Don Gatenby, and five grandchildren, also one brother, Guy Dorrance, of McKillop, and one sister (Es- ther), Mrs. James Kerr, McKillop.
