Mrs. Mabel Teall is a patient in
Scott Memorial Hospital as a re-
sult of a, fall at the home of her
son, W. T. Teall.
Dr. J. Semple and Mrs. Semple
are in Kitchener, having been -call-
ed there on the death of Mrs.
Semple's brother, the late Arthur
Goudie. Mr. Goudie, who was presi-
dent of Goudie's Ltd., died late
Wednesday afternoon in Kitchener -
Waterloo Hospital. •
Women Teachers
Name Officers
The Women Teachers' Associa-
tion of North Huron held their
spring meeting in Blyth United
Church Monday evening, with 59
teachers registered. A group of
WA members of the church cater-
ed for a turkey dinner. The presi-
dent of the association, Mrs. Mary
Wightman, of Blyth, presided.
Rev. Evan McLagan, minister of
the church, led'in a- sing -song. Miss
Luella Mitchell; Brussels, extended
greetings. Miss Ruth Procter con-
tributed a solo, accompanied by
Mrs. Elaine McDowell. The special
speaker for the occasion, Mrs. C.
E. Hall, of Stratford, who was in-
troduced by J. H. Kinkead, public
school inspector for North Huron,
told ' of her trip to Russia and
Czechoslovakia, illustrating it with
slides. She was thanked by Mrs,
Velma Shera, Wingham.
All officers were. returned for a
third term, with the addition of
Mrs, Luella Hall, 'of Blyth, as as-
sistant treasurer. The list is as fol-

The May meeting of Hannah
Home and School Association was
held Wednesday in the school. The
president, Mrs, Margaret Sharp,
led in prayer. A nominating com-
mittee of Mrs. W. Forrest, W. For-
rest and Keith Sharp was appoint-
ed to prepare next year's elections.
A picnic committee, convened by
Mrs, Keith MacLean, and assisted
by Mrs. W. Forrest and 'Mrs. J.
Landsborough, was appointed. The
gifts for the graduating class were
discussed. Roll call was given by
plants for the school, -
Keith Sharp introduced Rev, D.
Leslie Elder, of First Presbyter-
ian Church. Rev, Elder spoke on
the place of religion and worship
in the homes and schools. A pic-
ture was drawn of the changes
from billboard times until the pres-
ent generation. Mr. Forrest thank-
ed Mr. Elder.
Mary Ann Forrest played several
numbers on her accordion. Mrs.
Forrest conducted charades and
contests.

for Toronto where he has accepted

patient in Clinton Public Hospital

McKillop Group
The May meeting of the McKil-
lop Group was held at the home
pf Mrs. Charles McGavin on Wed-
nesday evening, with 13 ladies pre-
sent. Mrs. Robert McMichael pre-
sided. Psalm 23 was read in uni-
son, after which prayer was of-
fered by the leader, Reports were
heard and business conducted. Mrs.
Andrew Coutts gave a reading on
Mother's Day, "Before It Is Too
Late."
The topic on Home Missions in
Northern Manitoba was given by
Mrs. Dave Watson. A .Bible_ quiz
and discussion were conducted by
Mrs. Gordon McGavin.
A sale of plants was held at the
close of the meeting. Lunch was
served by the hostess, Mrs. Merton
Hackwell, Mrs. A. Coutts, Mrs. G.
Love and Mrs, E. McCreath.
Mr. Hugh Campbell has return -
'ed to his home in the village after
spending the winter months with
relatives. Mr. Campbell observed
his 98th birthday quietly on Tues-
day.
'Miss Norma Hoegy is spending
two weeks' holidays with her par-
ents, after completing three months
at the Ontario Hospital, London,
after which she ,will resume her
duties at St. Mary's Hospital, Kit-
chener. • .
The May meeting of the Walton
Women's Institute will be held in
the Community Hall on Thursday
evening, May 26.

er given by Mary Helen Buchanan.
The treasurer's report was given
by Shirley Thanler and the min-
utes of the last meeting rehd by
Sherrill Craig.
All children are requested to
bring their mite boxes next month.
Those taking part for lune will be
Alexin Williamson to play the
piano; Linda Travis will read the
Scripture, and Carol Wilbee will
lead in prayer. Children then as-
sembled for classes.
OBITUARIES
MRS. JAMES JOHNSON
Mrs. James Johnson, of Seaforth,
died at the Thamer Nursing Home
on Tuesday, May 17. The deceased,
the former Gertrude Hicknell, of
McKillop, was in her 74th year.
She is survived by three sons,
Jack, of Waterloo; -Gus, Seaforth;
Sylvester, Kitchener; two daugh-
ters, (Angela) Mrs. Frank Becker,
Clinton, and (Dorothy) Mrs. Carl
Feeney, Seaforth; four brothers,
Peter Hicknell, McKillop; Thomas
Hicknell, Seaforth; Leo. Hicknell,
Kirkland Lake, and Gus Hicknell,
Breslau; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph
Matthews, Seaforth; Mrs. Thomas
Maloney, Seaforth, and Mrs. Thos.
Butters, Dublin. Also surviving
are 21 grandchildren.
Mrs. Johnson, who came to this
district 20 years ago, was a mem-
ber of St. James' Roman Catholic
Church, and the Catholic Women's
League.
