Participants will come from the Seaforth, Clinton, Goderich and Wingham high schools. Mr. L. P, Plumsteel call- ed for volunteers last Thursday. * * * Easter Holidays Students and 15. teachers took 10 days' rest before staggering through the last 32 days of school. The pupils are slowly recovering from the shock of receiving their report cards and the teachers are trying to recover from the blasts of irate parents concerning the District Weddings YOUNG—CONNOLLY ST. COLUMBAN—Spr.g flowers decorated the, altars of St. Colum - ban's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday morning, April 23, for the wedding of Helen .Co'nnolly, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Con- nolly, R.R. 1, Dublin, and Mr. John Henry Young, Woodstock, son of Mr. and Mrs. WBja;n Young,, Re- serve Mines, C.B.., N.S. The pastor, Rev. J. J. McCowell, Officiated. The organist was Mrs. V. J. Lane, and the soloist, Mrs. Thomas Kale, sang "Panis Angeli- cas," "Ave Maria" and "Mother, At Your Feet I'm Kneeling." The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor -length em- broidered nylon gown with short sleeves and trimmed with sequins. Her fingertip embroidered veil was' held in place by a "mother of pearl" headdress. She wore match- ing gloves, and carried American Beauty roses with streamers. The bride's sister, Miss Loretta Connolly, R.R. 1, Dublin, w,as 'bridesmaid, wearing a bllerina dress of powder • blue nylon sheer over taffeta, with picture hat, matching gloves and white shoes. She carried a bouquet of yellow and blue chrysanthemums. Mr. Wayne Klienschroth, R.R.3, Woodstock, was best man, and the ushers were ,.Mr. John Connolly, brother of the bride, and Mr. Jack Kelly, Woodstock. After _the ceremony the guests were received at the bride's home 'by the bride's . mother, who wore a blue flowered silk dress, navy accessories and a corsage' of pink roses. She was assisted by the groom's aunt, wearing a brown and beige dress with beige accessories and corsage of yellow roses. The wedding dinner was served at the Canadian Legion 'Hall, Seaforth. For travelling the bride chose a blue dress and hat, beige coat with matching accessories. Following their return from a trip to Niagara Falls and points east, Mr. and Mrs. Young will reside in Woodstock, where the bride is on the teaching staff of a Woodstock Separate School. A. Stewart, sang for the 35th anniversary of the Lions Club. * * * Variety Night The 'public will have a chance to see what the Seaforth District High Schoolers can do besides school work, when the school doors open about three. weeks hence. A fascinating and entertaining pro- gram is being drawn up, including singing, dancing and gymnastics. This night out is a 'must' for all parents and should be set aside right now. Funeral was held at Stiles fun- eral home, Goderich, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial took place in Clinton cemetery, McKILLOP BEAVERS The second meeting of the Mc- Killop Busy Beavers 4-H Home- making Club for the project, "Meat in the Menu," was held at Linda Papple's. After the roll call; Mrs. Papple, assistant leader, .gave notes on "How to distinguish meat, the identification of the cut of beef and how to cook the tender and less tender cuts." Amy Stewart, Don- na Gordon, Faye Little and Janet McKercher gave demonstrations on the correct methods of measur- ing. The third meeting of this club was held on Wednesday. During the meeting the group took a trip to the Friend and Whetham's but- cher shop in Dublin, where they saw a quarter of beef being cut up. The meeting was concluded at the home of the Doig girls. REQUESTS: PLANNING BOARD, ORGANIZATION • Ugborne council agreed Monday to apply .to the Ontario Department. of Planning .and Aevelopment for the organization of a South Huron Planning Area, which would in- clude the 'township. • Council also moved to take steps to pass a building bylaw and a zon- ing bylaw, ,.• These actions followed a recent district meeting -with officials of the. department who urged estab- lishment of a planning area to as- sist in economical development. The town of Exeter has also en- dorsed the proposal. The 1959 audit presented by T. A. Wiseman, shdwmg a deficit of $4,934.34, was accepted by council. Mr. Wiseman confirmed that the transactions which had come un- der his notice have been within the power of the municipality. Court of revision on the Arksey- Jaques drain was adjourned until council's next meeting because "the engineer on the work has not yet been able to re-examine the site of the drain and is not yet in a position to advise this court that some proposed changes in the work could be made without af- fecting the assessment schedule." Tax Collector William Johns re- ported total 1959 taxes now out- standing at $4,533.58. Application of Bell and Laugh- ton for quit claim deeds on street allowances in favor of Broom and Koopman on lot 13; concession one, was laid over until the next meet- ing. Council directed Clerk -Asses- sor H. H. G. Strang to interview the other interested ratepayers on lot 13 in regard to cancellation of plan No, 2. District Obituaries MRS. JOSEPH DENNIS WALTON— M rs. Rebecca Jane Dennis, of Walton, died in Clinton Tuesday. She was 87. Born in McKillop, she lived. most of her life in that township. She was the widow of Joseph Dennis an,d the last surviving member of her family. Service is being conducted Thurs- day at the D. A. Rann funeral home, Brussels.
