Talk Meters Again
Councillor J. Douglas, Thorndike,
as chairman of the police commit-
tee, reported his change from con-
sidering two-hour parking on main
streets was the answer to all -day
parking ••problem, and instead
would suggest installing meters.
He will prepare to have a repres-
entative of a meter firm visit
council and explain the entire sit-

Hold Mill Rate
The tax levy for South Huron
District High School has been set
at seven mills, the same rate as it
has been for the past two years.
The rate was set at the meeting•
of the board last week, ;Estimates
approved by the board included
major increases in cost of instruc-
tion, capital outlays and transpor-
tation, .but this will be met out of
the board's 1959 balance of $6,100.

The Blyth Public School Board
have announced the acceptance of
the application of Mr. Ronald Hig-
gins, of Harriston, as principal of
the local public school, The vac-
ancy occurred when Mrs. Donald
Howes, who has filled the position
on a temporary basis since last
September, tendered her re'signa-•
tion- in favor of a teaching position
at No. 7 School, Hullett township.

Against New Addition
By a majority of 96, Colborne
township taxpayers Friday voted
against a $70;000 four -room addi-
tion to Zion Central School. In
the largest turnout of voters in the
township's history, about 89 per
cent of the eligible •resident voters
cast their ballots. In actual fig-
ures, 466 out of the estimated 525
resident voters turned out. A total
of 291 voted against the conten-
tious bylaw, while 195 voted in
favor.--Goderich Signal -Star.
Stack Goes --Hooray!
No more pea stack odor! Cana-
dian Canners Ltd. announced this
week arrangements have been
completed for elimination of the
stack this year. "As soon as the
peas are threshed, the straw will
be trucked back to the growers,"
said Manager Don Graham. "This
will eliminate the fermentation of
the stack and theuice, which
caused the odor." Growers will
put the straw in silos or stack it
to use ass feed next winter. The
company tics been negotiating with
producers for several weeks to ef-
fect the change in operation.--lsxe-
