Master Billy Smith spent the day with his grandparents, Mr. and Garnet Harper, and cousin Sharon, at Carlingford. Mr. Frank J. Malone has been transferred from the Canadian Bank of Commerce, Dublin, to the. Bank of Commerce at Parkhill. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Evans and children, Chippawa, and Mrs: John Cleary and Karen, London, with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Evans. Mr. Matt Coyne is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Russel and family have moved into the form- er home of Mrs. Loretta Jordan, in Hibbert township. Mr. Joe Eckert, Jr., is a patient at Victoria Hospital, London. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jordan, of Hibbert township, have sold their farm 'and moved to Dublin, where they bought the new home of Mr. Louis Framers. CWL Annual Meeting The annual meeting- of the Dub- lin Catholic Women's. League was held on• Monday evening in the parish hall with 30 members at- tending. Mrs. Dan O'Rourke, the president, presided. Mrs. G, Hol- land read the minutes of the pre- vious meeting and the•correspond- ence. The annual treasurer's re- port was given by Mrs. Frank Kist- ner with a donation of a cheque to Rev. R. Durand. The convener's report showed a very successful year. Mrs. O'Rourke thanked all the officers for their assistance during the past two years and being so co-operative in their work with the society , The nominating committee, Mrs. Gerald Holland, Mrs. Fergus Stap- leton and Mrs. Frank Kistner, pre- sented the slate of officers for the coming year: president, Mrs. Fer- gus Horan;._ first vice-president, Mrs. Frank Kistndr; second viee- president,' Mrs. Fergus Stapleton; third vice-president, ' Mrs. John Geffen; treasurer, Mrs. Ed. FIRESIDE GROUP 'i'he Fireside Fellowship Group of First Presbyterian Church met in the schoolroom with a. •good at- tendance. Mrs. F. R. Cosford op- ened the meeting with a poem, fol- lowed by a hymn, with Mrs. John A. Cardno at the piano. Mrs. R. E. McMillan read the Scripture and gave the prayer. Rev. D. Leslie Elder introduced Rev. Duncan, who is connected with the Dr, Graham homes in Kalipona, India. ' He gave an In- teresting talk and showed films of the people in that country. Ekier closed this part of the meeting, after which lunch was enjoyed. ea ' GROUP III, WA The April meeting of Group III of' the WA of Northside United Church ••was held at_ the home of Mrs. B. F. Christie, with an at- tendance of 20 members and three visitors, Mrs, Glen. Steffen opened the meeting by reading a poem. In the absence of the president, the business was conducted by Mrs, Staffen. There was a General WA meeting on Wednesday, April 13, at-•2:30—part. The devotional part of the meet- ing was taken by Mrs. J, C. Coch- rane, and sheead a poem, "The Legend Of the Easter Violet." Mrs. J. W. Talbot led in prayer: • The scripture lesson, Psalm 139, was read in unison. Mary Jean Boshart and Nancy Berger favored with an accordian and piano duet. The . guest speaker, Rev. J. C,• Britton, spoke on "The Story: That Has No Ending," and based his remarks on Matthew 28:20, "Lo! 1 am with you alway." Mrs. Tal- bot 'moved a vote of thanks to the hostess, the speaker, and all tak- ing part. Another Easter hymn Rebekahs Name Mrs. 1. G ru m.m ett For District Office Mrs. Joseph Grummett was re- commended as district deputy president for Huron District 23 of the Rebekah Lodge for the coming year. She was named at a meet- ing of Edelweiss Rebekah Lodge Monday night. Visitors were present from Hen - sail, Wingham, Wyoming and Pet- erboro at the meeting, with Mrs. Keith Sharp, N.G.; presiding. Mrs. Dorothy Parker, Hensall, D.D.P., of.,District 23, paid an of- ficial visit and gave an inspiring address on "How Big Are You?" stating that "a woman is nq big- ger than the way she treats her fellowman." An invitation was -received to at- tend a daffodil tea in the ToWn Hall on April 16, sponsored by the local Cancer Society., A donation was, made to the current Red Cross appeal. Winners in a draw were Mrs. Keith Sharp, Mrs. Wm. Dalrymple, Mrs. Chester Henderson, Mrs. Charles Smith and Mrs. Charles Felker. Following a period of games, a delicious lunch was serv- ed by Mrs. Dalrymple and her committee, EGMONDVILLE WMS Egmondville United Church WMS held their Easter .thankoffering meeting at the church Wednesday. Meditation on the Resurrection was given by Mrs. A. Chesney, Who also led .in prayer. Mrs. Charles Eyre read, "Easter Is the Festival of Victor- ious Living." Mrs. Boyes closed the devotional with prayer. Visiting ladies from Kippen, Brucefield, Varna, Goshen and Turner's Churches were welcomed by Mrs. Boyes. Mrs. Bill !Taylor, Mrs. Clare McBride"' and Mrs. Bruce Keyes, of Goshen, favored with an instrumental trio. "What ...(les. Easter_ Mean_ To You?" was a timely readi#ig given by Mrs. Erlin Whitmore, of Turner's. Mrs. Boyes introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. H. Donaldson, from Seaforth .Anglican Church. Mrs. Donaldson gave a very interesting talk about her life as a missionary in South 'America. Mrs. M. Haney thanked the speaker. After the offering was received, Bill MacLean gave a pleasing vio- lin solo; Mrs. R. Broadfoot, of Kip- pen,,favored with a piano solo, and Mrs. Gordon Johnson, of Varna, with a reading. Lunch was served in the Sunday School room, with Mrs. N. MacLean and Mrs. L, Hammond as hostesses:' . BETHEL WMS - WA The Bethel WMS and WA meet- ings were held Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ross Leem- ing, 'The president opened the meeting With 'the invocation. The Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Ed, Regele, followed with prayer by Mrs. Stanley Hillen. "A Letter From Africa," from the Missionary Monthly, was read by Miss •Tennte Dennis. Mrs. Wm. Roe read an article on "What Does W.R.Y. Mean?" It reminded the group that this is World Refugee Year. A skit called "Associate Helpers' Secretary Makes a Call," was presented by Mrs. R. Wild- fong, Mrs. Duncan McNichol, Mrs. Everett Beuerman and Mrs. Glen McNichol, This showed how the shut-ins can be kept in touch with the work _of the WMS. Miss Ethel Dennis gave a review of the• Presbyterial which took place in Seaforth on March 24, The society are invited to meet with the Walton ladies on April 29, at. 8:30 p.m., Mrs. Tiffin, of Wing - ham, to be the guest speaker, and also to Duff's, McKillop, on April 20, at 2:15 p.m., Mrs. H. Donald- son, of Seaforth, to be 'the speak- er. The Explorer Group met at the home of Mrs. W. Roe after school on April 11. Mrs, Don Dennis is to be the hostess for the May 5th meeting. • Mrs. William Dennis presided for the WA meeting which followed, Twenty-three members answered the roll call.
