Mrs. ;Teen Bryderl McQueen, of
l3rucefield, passed away in Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, on
Monday, March 21, aftertwo weeks
of illness. She was in her Stith
year.
Bern in Stanley township, she
was married 'in Brucefield in 1916
to Arthur, McQueen, who passed
away in 1953. She is survived by
her daughter, Margaret J.$ of
Brucefield.
Mrs. McQueen was the daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexan-
der Thompson, of Stanley town-
ship. She, received her education
in Stanley township, and was a
member of Brucefield United
Church and a member of the WA
and WMS.
For many years the deceased
was the Brucefield correspondent
for The Huron Expositor.
The body rested at the Box Fun-
eral Home in Seaforth until Wed-
nesday at $ p.m., when funeral
services were conducted by the
Rev. Dr. D. McKenzie, of Bruce -
field United Church. Burial was
in Baird's cemetery. '
Pallbearers were. Stewart Baird,
Norman Baird, Walter Baird, Sel-'
don Ross, Victor Taylor*and Alex
Thompson. Flowerbearers were
Walter McBeath, Arthur 'Dutton,
Fred Burdge and Lorne Wilson.

ning for their March meeting in
the church schoolroom. Mrs. Robt.

ages.and Mrs. Trevor ',Wilson gave
current events. Mrs. Jeohn Baker
assisted during the offering. Mr.
Robert Blundell sang a solo, "The
Lord's _ Prayer," accompanied at
the piano by Mrs. Wm. Brown.
The resignation of Mrs. Ed. Fink
as president Was accepted, owing
to ill health. Mrs. Beverley Bea-
ton, first vice-president, will take
over as president, and Mrs. John
Baker will' act as first' vice-presi-
dent, . Twenty-five visits were made
to sick and shut-ins and thank-yod
notes read for flowers. Mrs. G.
C•. Vais will be ' guest speaker at
the Easter meeting when the WMS
will be special guests. Mrs. A.
Orr and Mrs. John Skea will form
the program committee; Mrs, Don
Mousseau and Mrs. Gerald Bell
will act as hostesses at the April
meeting. Mrs. Gordon Schwalm
and Miss Hannah Murray served a
spring luncheon."

Lives of Area Shut-ins
Hensall Kinettes brightened the
lives of many ,ill' and- -shut-ins on
Sunday when they presented 48
beautiful' • potted • daffodils to
patients in Scott Memorial Hospi-
tal, Seaforth; Clinton Public Hos-
pital; South Huron Hospital, Exe-
ter; County,Ilome, Clinton; Queens-
way Nursing Home, Hensall, and
shut-ins in the village. Mrs. John
Heal was convener of this annual
project..
The carnival and other features
sponsored by the Kinsmen and
scheduled for this Friday, in addi-
tion to—other •events planned for
at the Arena, have had to be can-
celled owing to ice machine fail-
ure.
Mrs. William Austin, Seaforth,
was the winner of share the wealth,
and Jim Bisback, the $5.00 door
prize, at the Hensall Legion bingo
Saturday. There were 14 regular
winners. Saturday, March 26, a
draw will be made for a lady's or
gent's suit and blanket, for which
tickets hav�e been sold, sponsored
by the Legibrr Ladies to the Aux-
iliary.
Damage totalled $20.00, but no
one was hurt, in a three -car crash
on Highway. 4; two and a half miles
south of Hensall, Wednesday night.
Drivers of the cars, which crashed
in a chain -reaction fashion during
a -heavy snowstorm, were Mrs.
Edna Cook, Clinton; John Bannis-
ter, Zurich, and James Rean, of
Goderich. All vehicles were ,north-
bound, said OPP George Mitchell,
of Exeter detachmeltt.

when members of Huronic Lodge,
Clinton, were guests,-. The- degree
was conferred on two candidates
from Clinton lodge,. under direc-
tion of degree captain Mrs. Leona

Reporting for the visiting corn-
mittee were Mrs. E. Chipchase
and Mrs. Archie MacGregor; for
the finance, Mrs. E. Shaddick.
J.P.N.G. Mrs. Inez McEwen and
P.N.G. Mrs. William Caldwell were
appointed as scholar representa-
tives to Grand Lodge, Toronto, in
June.

extended courtesy remarks to tthe
lodge for their hospitality. D.D.P.
Mrs. Dorothy Parker , welcomed
the guests, and Mrs. Parke thank-
ed the degree team for their re-
port, Happy birthday greetings
were sung for Mrs. B. Beaton, who
was celebrating a birthday.

sung and refreshments provided
by Clinton Lodge were served by

Danny and Debbie Smith, chil-
dren +hf Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Smith,
had their tonsils removed at Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, last
week.
Splendid congregations attended
divine service in the United Church
Sunday morning. For his theme,.
Rev. Currie Winlaw spoke on
"Doubting Thomas." The choir for
their number sang, "More Love
To Thee." Mrs. George Hess was
soloist.
Mr: and Mrs. K. R. Daniel and
Mr. R. E. Winlaw, of Ingersoll,
were Sunday guests with Rev. and
Mrs. Currie Winlaw and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Graham
and family, of Weston, spent the
weekend with" the latter's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Love.
Miss Marie Jarrott, who is tak-
ing a special course at the Sick
Children's Hospital, Toronto, spent
the weekend with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Eldon Jarrott, and sister,
Ruth Anne.
Mrs. Ross MacMillan, Toronto,
is spending this week with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laird
Mickle.
A carload of ladies from the Hen-
sall Women's Institute will attend
the daffodil party in the interests
of the Canadian Cancer Society at

Carl Hemingway, Brussels, sec-
retary -manager of Huron F of A,
.was guest speaker at Kippen East
Women's Institute meeting Thurs-
day afternoon. Mrs. William Bell
was hostess at .her home, with co -
hostess Miss, William Kyle.
Mr, Hemingway spoke on gener-
al farming prices, dealing with hog
deficiency, hog marketing board,
and egg deficiency. He was intro-
duced by Mrs. Alex McGregor and
thanked by Mrs. Ernie Whitehouse.
Twenty-eight members answered
the roll call, "One way to beautify
the • community." Mrs. Verne Al-
derdice presented the ' treasurer's
report and reviewed current ev-
ents. Mrs. John Sinclair presented
gifts to Mrs. Ross. Chapman and
Mrs, A. McGregor, who acted as
leader and assistant leaders for
the 4-H Club's project.
At the annual 'meeting in April,
conveners o6 standing committees
are asked to bring in their reports
to .be submitted at this meeting.
A thank -you letter was read from
the War Memorial Children's Hos-
pital, London, expressing thanks
for gifts of quilts and pyjamas
made by the members. An attend-
ance contest has concluded with
leaders Mrs. Campbell • Eyre and
Mrs. Wilmer Broadoot. Mrs.
Campbell's side had the most
points and declared winners. The
losing side, of which Mrs. Broad -
foot is 'the leader, ,will entertain
the winning side at the home of
Mrs. Robert Kinsman Tuesday ev-
ening, when a pot -luck supper will
be served and a social time spent.
President Mrs. Russell Brock
chaired the meeting. Dianne Mc-
Kay, accompanied by her mother
at the piano, sang, and Mrs. Win-
ston Workman gave a poem.
The WMS of Kippen United
Church met for their March meet-
ing in the schoolroom on Thurs-
day, with Group 3 in charge. In
the absence of the president, Mrs.
Harry Caldwell presided. She read
from the 15th chapter of -Proverbs,
followed by prayer. ,The minutes
of the last meeting were read and
the roll call was answered with a
verse from the Book Of Galatians.,
Mrs. Caldwell read a story of
"Patrick, the Stolen Saint." Mrs.
Ross Broadfoot gave the visitors'
report. Mrs, Russell Consitt and
Mrs. Harry Caldwell were appoint-
ed delegates to the Presbyterial
in Seaforth on March 24. Mrs.
Alex McMurtrie read the third
chapter from the study book on
Africa, "Doorstep, Hearth and
Hom e."
An invitation to attend the Eas-
ter thankoffering at Egmondville
Church on April 6th was accepted.
Mrs: E. Jarrott gave a poem,
"God's Great Danger," and read
two thank -you cards. It was de=
cided to invite the congregation to
the Easter `thankoffering meeting
in April, when Rev. Winlaw, of
Hensall, will be the guest -speaker.
The collection was taken by the
hostesses, Mrs. Russell Consitt and
Mrs. Morley Cooper. Mrs, Caldwell
thanked everyone that helped.
Two miscellaneous. showers were
given recently to honor Miss Pat
bowson, bride -elect of tekt Satur-
day. One WAS held at the home of
Miss Marten l'attier, and, the oth-
er at Varna Town Hall. The bride-
to-be received many beautiful
gifts. Several friends attended
from Kippen and surrounding 'dis-
trict.
Mrs. Nic Oud; of R.R. 3, Kip -
pen, was taken by ambulance Sat-
urday to St. Joseph's Hospital,
London. On Monday her condition
was reported as slightly improv-
ed.
Sympathy is extended to Mr. and
Mrs. Ernest Ross in the sudden
passing of his mother, the late
Mrs. Alfred Ross..
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Schnell, of
Camzose, Alberta, on their return
from Florida, visited during the
week with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar

Teen Town

The Hensall 'District Teen Town
held their weekly dance last Fri-
day • in the Hensall Community
Centre. Broom dances • were -won
by Louise Jones and Larry Jones;
sot dance won by Sharon Hume
and Ron Beaton; elimination dance
by Cathy Scane and Bill Workman.
We would like to thank the chap-
erones for the evening, Mr. and
Mrs. Alex McGregor. Dance for
this .week was announced as can-
celled, but later it was decided to
have it Saturday evening, so, Teen
Town, this week's dance will be
held Saturday evening.
Guide Corner

The Guides began their March 15
meeting, with the usual opening
exercises; The. Quint Patrol, -'.con-
ducted eight games, after which
the second-class Guides were test-
ed on First Aid by Mrs. T. Lav-
ender,, of Hensall. Campfire fol-
lowed and the Guides sang "Hap-
py Birthday" to Ruth Anne Tra-
quair.
