held a dance in the auditorium of
Hensall Community Centre Friday
with a' fair crowd in attendance.
We would like to thank . Mr. E.
Shaddick, who acted as 'chaperone
for the evening.
At the executive meeticig held

to lower the admission price to 25
cents, beginning February 19th.

RTS—REVIEW IN HENSALL

The Midgets did it again by win-
ning. the grand championship Sat-
urday night before a large crowd
in,,the Hensall arena. So far Clin-
ton was the big team as Isar as
Hensall Was .concerned. Hensall
defeated them 4-2, and Clinton won
5.3 (the only team -to defeat them
so far) in the two games of the.
schedule. They tied. one game, 3.3
in an exhibition bout, but this cli-
maxed the struggle by the Hen-
sall Six, winning .12.:6,
The Midgets start the playoffs
in the WOAA Tuesday night in Rip-
ley.
If anyone wishes •to see the tro-
phies they will be in Bert Horton's
window.. Both the "D" champion-
-Ship trophy and th rand cham-
pionship trophy weiT13resented on
behalf of the General Coach Works
by Manager Bill Smith, to team
captain Bill Shaddick.
I'm sure everyone was impress-
ed by the game Saturday night,
and we should See some large
crowds at all the • playoff games
in Hensall. So come out and see
the rest of the games. You're mist-
ing some good hockey, if you fail
to come.
The Bantams are tied up in their
series, and if they win—and every-
one hopes they will—they'll be go-
ing up to play the northern teams.
Hensall Midgets Win Championship
The''Hensa-ll Midgets, champions
Of the "D" series in the Kinsmen
hockey tournament, and .the Clin-
ton Midgets, champs of the "B"
series, played off for the grand
championship here in. Hensall Sat-
urday night. The Hensall team
downed the Clinton club,'12-6,� to
win -the -General Coach Works tro-
phy.
Hensall was led by Bill Shad -
dick, who scored five goals and
one assist. Bryan Bonthron tagged
a hat -trick and Harold Jaques
scored one goal and assisted on
five more." Jack Chipchase bang-
ed in twogoals and assisted once.
Steve. Kyle carried the puck for,
one -goal and one assist. Other
assists went to Larry Jones, with
two, and Bob Mickle with one.
Clinton goals were marked by
Budd Boyes, -who scored twice;
Bob Livermore scored -once and
assisted on one; Bud Yeo, Roger
Cummings and. Bill Murney tagged
the other three markers for the
losers.
Playoffs Tied One Each
The first leg Of the Bantam play-
offs between Hensall and Zurich
is tied up with one game each.
Dick Stbdie, goalie of• the Zdrich
club, won a 4-0 shutout on Zurich
ice Tuesday night. The second
game was 'taken by Hensall 5-3 on
,Friday night in the Hensall arena.
'In Tuesday night's game Zurich
tdok the lead late in the first per-
iod when Bob Hoffman flashed the
light;--assisted—by—Cam—Witmer
and Bernie Bedard. Greg- Willert
took advantage of a one-man han-
dicap, -for Hensall to tap in the
second goal of the 'night. Otto
Smale• received the only penalty
of the second for tripping.
The Zurich. club wrapped up the
game in the last 20 minutes When
Roy McAdams scored from a play
with Harry Bloch and Bob Ban-
niater. Cam- Witmer fired the last
goal from a pass off the stick of
Bob Koffman. Greg Willert • was
penalized for tripping, and'--Otta
Smale for kneeing in the -last per-
iod.

Chapman paced the Hensall Six
to a 5-3 victory over Zurich in the
second playoff game by marking
two goals and two assists. Zurich
took the lead right off with a goal
by Bob Hoffman., from Bernie
Bedard. • The Hensall squad ral-
lied late in the period to take the
lead. Craig Chapman and Bobby
Carlilewent in to assist on Otto
Smale.'s first goal of the night.
Chapman again came through with
an assist on Bob ' McNaughton's,
goal that put the honie •"'team
ahead. •
Craig Chapman scored `en the
play with Danny Lenaghan' in the
first two minutes of the middle
period. Zurich- then came on to
tie the game up before the end
of the period, when Bob Hoffman
scored once and assisted with Cam.
Witmer's goal.
Hensall wrapped ' up the game
in the last frame when Otto Smale
took the winning goal from a pass
by Bob Carlile. Craig Chapman
put the homesters ahead another
point by• scoring unassisted with
one man short on the Hensall team.
Larry Merner and Otto Smale were
sent to the sin -bin for boarding
and tripping, respectively.

Is Seaforth Winner
G. Robertson's rink from Centra-
lia took first prize in the 9 a.m.
draw, with 3 -wins plus 13, in a
mixed bonspiel held Wednesday at
the Seaforth Curling Rink. Second
prize went to G. Anderson, of Thed-
ford, with 2 wins plus 9; third to
Dr. Grace, of London, with 2 wins
plus 7. Consolation prize went to
G -Garet'; of h4itehell.
In the•11 a.m. draw, L. Morgan,
of Stratford, •led with 3 wins plus
11; second prize Went to L Learn,
of Exeter, with 2 wins plus 9;
and E. Cruickshank, of Stratford,
took third place With 2 wins plus 8.
Consolation went to Dr. M. W.
Stapleton, of Seaforth, with 1 win
plus 1,
Other rinks participating were:

the early draw. In the later draw

visited an afternoon with his bro-
ther and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. -Elston Rowson.
The WMS had a pot -luck dinner
and quilting on Thursday in the
schoolroom of the church. The roll
call Was. -answered by - 22 mem-
bers. A short business meeting
was held by the WMS tnd the WA.
It was decided the March . meet-
ing would be Field on March 10:
Group III made plans for a bake
sale, to be held at Drysdale's store
in Hensall this month.
The Willing Workers held a box
social at S.S. No. 2, Tuckersmith,
Friday -..evening. Mrs. Ross Mc-
Nichol, Mrs. Edison McLean, Mrs.
Morley Cooper and Mrs. Joe Los -
tell were in charge. Winners of
the games were: Mrs. Jack' Con-
sitt, Mrs. :William Coleman, Mrs.
Leonard Lovell, Mr. William Cole-
man and Mr, Leonard Lovell. Mrs.
Howard Finkbeiner stumped, the
panel with her secret. Eleven dol-
lars and fifty-five cents was ,,re-
alized.

of London, visited • Sunday with.

ROBERT J. COOPER
KIPPEN—Robert J. Cooper, 78,
Kippen, passed away in Caro,
Michigan Community Hospital, hay-
ing suffered a severe stroke. Sur-
vivors are three sons, Duncan,
Morley and John, of Kippen;
daughters. Mrs. Ed. (Grace) Mc-
Bride, Kippen; Mrs. Robert (Bea-
trice) Dalrymple, Brucefield; Mrs.
Stewart (Doreen) Baird, Bruce -
field; Mrs. Grant (Olive) Love,
Caro, Mich.;' sisters, Mrs. Angus
Brown, Seaforth; Mrs. Andrew
Bell, Kippen; Mrs. Nellie Deyell,
Toronto; and 13 grandchildren.
The body rested at the Bonthron
Funeral Home, Hensall, until Wed-
nesday. Service was held from St.
Andrew's united Church, Kippen,
at 2 p.m. Interment was in Hen-
sall Union Cemetery.
Smog was no problem with the
elodtric cars that were popular at
the turn of the century. But World
Book Encyclopedia reports. that
the cars lost favor because their
batteries had to' be recharged af-
tery they had travelled' about 100
miles.
