with the repeal of any more re-
strictive statute.
The two Bounties last Nov. 30
in
a federal plebiscite voted
strongly in favor of ending pro-
hibition. Huron bounty has been
dry since April 28, 1914, and Perth
since ''SE -pt. 1, 1915.
The two counties were the last
-`of 72 counties., and cities to' revoke
the sweeping --restrictions of the
Canada Temperance Act. This act
banned the sale or keeping for
sale of all liquor, beer, and wine
unless sold for medicinal purposes
or for sacramental use.
After the Nov.. 30 vote, Col. C.
E. Woodrow, Solicitor -for- the' On-
tario Liquor , Control Board, said
the CTA would remain in effect
until the necessary orders-in-eoun-
cil had been approved by .the fed-
eral u'abinet and signed by Gover-
nor-General Vanier.
Seaforth, . together ` with other
Huron towns, has made represeg.
tations to the Liquor Control
Board for the establishment of
retail beer' and liquor outlets here.
The representations have been
acknowledged, but there has been
no indication of action that may
be taken.
Federal orders -in -council have
cleared' the way for provisions of
the Liquor Control Act of Ontario
to become effective in Huron and

The 35 votes were cast by 33
members of County Council; be-
cause of the double -vote provision
that applies to representatives of

its greater po"pulatiop, Qodericb
has four votes, which are exercis-
ed, two each, by its reeve and
deputy, -reeve. The voting for war-
den on Tuesday -was the,.first...oc-
casion on which a deputy -reeve of
Goderichhas cast the double bal-
lot. Until the end • of 1959, Gode-
rich had three votes, of which the
reeve.,,cest two and his deputy one.
Deputy -reeve James.,Bisset, a

council, divided his support, giv-
ing one, vote to Durnin and one to

passed the 3,000 -mark. The '1959
assessment showed 3,016 'and Gode-
rich was able to claim its added
