conducted the election and ad-
dressed the group in which he re-

remarks stated how wonderfully.
Mrs, Armstrong had worked as the
head of the organization•.
Mrs. Allan Ester
Woird wain received Saturday of
the passing, 4f... Mrs. Allan' Ester,
who died in the General Hospital
at Lloydminster, Sask., Saturday,
in her 79th year. She was' the
former Elizabeth Allan, of Blake,
Ont., and graduated in the School
of Nursing at Detroit,- Mich. She
was married in January, 1911, go-
ing West following her marriage
48 years ago.•
• Surviving are her husband; two
sisters, Mrs. Jane Haugh, Bruce -
field; Mrs.' Sarah Carnie, Bay-
field; one brother, Robert Allan,
Brucefield. She was an aunt of
George Hess, Henna:
Funeral services were held Mon-
day from the United Church at
Lloydminster, Sask.
Miss Hannah Murray was the

Miss Pearl Tideswell, of Clinton,

ior Farmers. Bruce Coleman was
named president, to succeed past,

A discussion took place on the
annual banquet and the drama
club. The banquet is being plan-,
ned for February 2.

The January meeting ot heBea-
forth Legion Ladies' Auxiliary to
Branch 156 was held in the Legion
room. President Mrs, Harry Jes-
some opened the meeting: Roll
call was answered • by 19 ladies.
The minutes of the last meeting
and executive meeting were read
by Secretary Mrs, Bill Little. On
the invitation of the branch, it was
decided to hold a joint installation
of officers with the men onThurs-

cussed with regard to the Brenda
York cooking demonstration to be
held on March 24 and 25.
The buying committee was auth-
orized to select and purchase the
floor covering for the kitchen of
the new Legion Hall. Ron Ball at

with a vegetable bowl

Dies Ian= -Montana
DUBLIN-Deat�h�claimed one of
Shelby's 'iiibstx, beloved citizens
Monday evening, Dee. 21, at 7:30,
with the passing of Joe Shea, at
75. A shadow of mourning touch-
es all of the city where he was
held in esteem and affection by all
who knew'"' him.
A resident of Shelby, Montana,
:since 1924, Joe . had countless
friends in the community who
deeply mourn his passing. A sud-
den heart attack was the cause of
death.
Patrick Joseph Shea was born at
Dublin, Qntario, the son of the late
Michael nd Mary Shea, on Sept.
25,. 18844 He 'attended Dublin
schools. M-4he age of 20 he mov-
ed' West, first to Saskatchewan
and then to Alberta; working at his
trade of stationary engineer in
both,;,,provinces. On Dec•: 28, 1922,
he was married to Elizabeth Faulk-
ner at Drumheller, Alberta. He
went to Shelby in 1924 and' pur-
chased the Shelby Steam Laundry,
now the,C.O,D, Laundry, He sold
the laundry in 1945, and built
Shea's Motel, which he and his
wife operated until selling the busi-
ness in October last year,•.
Joe was. a member of St, Wil-
liam's Roman Catholic Church,
Knights of Columbus, B.P.O. Elks,
Shelby, and the Chamber of Com-
merce. Ile greatly enjoyed bowl-
ing and golf and- 'only recently
gave up tennis.
-Survivors include his widow,
Elizabeth; a son, Donald, 'of Shel-
by; two daughters, Patty Joe, at
home, and Mrs. Betty Lou Scriven,
df Greenville, Miss:; seven grand-
children, and a sister, Mrs. Basil
(Ann) Byrne, of Dearborn, Mich.
A brother and sister predeceased
him in death.
Funeral services were held at
St. WilIikn'i''S -Catholic Church on
Thursday, Dec. 24, at 10 a.m., with
Rev. Father James R. Wagner of-
ficiating. Burial took place . in
Montana View ' Cemetery. Pall-
bearers were Joe Maughan, Leth-
brideg, Alta.; Carroll Kavanagh,
Elmer Bonathon, Bruce McNamer,
Bob McCormick' and Jim Lennon.
Honorary pallbearers were Ray
Klinger, Earl Addy, Donald Hol-
linger, Ted Jones, V. R. Morrow,
and C. H. Stansberry.
