The announcement was made Oct. 19 during Huron County council. Horseman has been acting in the role since May of 2015 and the appointment for- mally takes effect Nov.1. "I'm very proud to serve as the paramedic chief and I appreciate the confidence and support of county council ' said Horseman. "I look forward to maintaining our outstanding service levels and to continue working with the devoted para- medics and professional staff at the county of Huron" The Huron County Emer- gency Services Department is dedicated to leading and pro- moting the improvement of health and public safety for our citizens. The department pro- vides paramedic care, emer- gency management services and works with allied agencies to educate the public about safety and accident prevention. "Jeff has demonstrated his abilities and commitment to excellence," said Brenda Orchard, Huron County CAO. "He has earned the respect and confidence of staff, man- agement and Council, and so I'm pleased to appoint him to this position." At the same meeting, Horseman, along with para- medics Mark Crawford, Bill Lewis and Marion Taylor were recognized as recipients of the Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal from the Governor General of Canada. This award is pre- sented to paramedics who have served for at least 20 years in a meritorious manner characterized by the highest standards of good conduct, industry and efficiency. These four individuals received their awards at a ceremony, hosted by the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs, on Sept. 29 in Collingwood. Although there is no basement, a loft with a sloped ceiling, located over the double garage, will provide space for a studio, exercise room or extra bedroom. The covered entry leads into a foyer with an 11 -foot ceiling. To the left is a coat closet, and directly ahead is the great room, with a view through large windows onto a covered terrace. A sloped ceiling adds a touch of elegance to the room, and the gas fireplace will cast its warmth into the open-plan dining area and kitchen.
