Cents undefeated at home
Shaun Gregory
Huron Expositor
The Huron East Centenaires
took on the Ripley Wolves
October 15 in Seaforth.
The Cents outplayed them
physically and outshot the
wolves roughly 30-25 with the
Centenaires goalie, Jesse Ray-
mond only giving up one goal.
The end result was the
hometown team winning 5-1
with one of those goals being
a shorthanded wrist shot by
Chett Binning.
This win puts the Cents
fighting for first place with a
2-1 record, as they're tied for
second with the Tavistock
Royals. Currently the 2016
champions, the Clinton
Radars are first place in the
league with a three game win
strealc
The general manager of the
Centenaires, Tim
McNaughton says the new-
found success is from fixing
some of the kinks from the
previous year.

With a good old-fashioned hockey fist pump, Centenaires Reuben
Smith celebrates an assist last Saturday.
"We identified some of the
issues from last season and a
lot of it starts from the addi-
tions to the defensive core,"
stated McNaughton October
16. "They have helped us con-
trol our own zone and move
the puck forward."
"A couple of the forwards
we've added have been great
point producers so far, every-
one seems to be working really
well together as a group:'
The new additions are Mark
VanDooren who took a hiatus
for a few years, Binning from
Mitchell who previously played
for the Straford Cullitons and
Carleton University. Also Reu-
ben Smith is a great technical
player especially since he is one
of the most experienced power
skaters. Currently he's training
Seaforth Minor Hockey the art
of power skating.
Next up for the Cents is a
head-to-head clash with the
Saugeen Shores Winterhawks
at 7:30 p.m. in Seaforth October
22.
Chett Binning had a goal and an assist in the Centenaires 5-1 win over the Ripley Wolves.

St. Thomas Anglican welcomes new minister
Shaun Gregory
Huron Expositor
Hailing from the town of
St Mary's, Eaton has
recently earned the profes-
sional undergraduate
degree of Master of Divinity
from Huron College at
Western University. Upon
completing the three-year
program, a position in both
Seaforth and Clinton's St
Paul's Anglican Church was
available. Working at both
Anglican churches, Eaton,
49, said it's been a life alter-
ing experience with an
astounding ever-changing
scenery after being recently
employed by the Toronto
Public Library.
I went from Toronto to
London to St Mary's so I
keep paring down as I
move," Eaton said in St
Paul's Anglican
Church October 14, signify-
ing the change from an
urbanized community to a
more rural setting.
These rustic surround-
ings are not unfamiliar to
the new minister, "I was
born here in Clinton, so
I've came back to my roots,"
Shaun Eaton from St. Mary's has
of the St. Thomas Anglican Churc
he said.
If anybody is interested
in attending services
they're on Sundays at the
St. Thomas Anglican in
Seaforth at 9:30 a.m. After
that's said and done he
heads to Clinton for the
11:15 a.m. service at St
Paul's Anglican Church.
Another option he offers is
on Fridays where any local
can come for council or if
they simply need a friend
to talk to.
It's hard to believe with
all these duties that this is
only considered a part-time
gig for Eaton, nonetheless
it's what he loves to do, and
Shaun Gregory
been named the new minister
h in Seaforth.
he's more than satisfied
with his decision to pursue
a life in religion.
"I ended up talking a
course to find out a little
more about Christianity,"
stated Eaton. "I really knew
nothing until that point or
very little anyways, once I
took a course, it opened up
a whole new world for me."
Worldwide churches are
declining, at the St
Paul's location there are
about 18-20 and in Seaforth
there are roughly 25 mem-
bers who attend church
weekly and Eaton would
like to see those numbers
increase.
