Central Huron Pickleball
Club. "Last season the club
accomplished a lot from
purchasing new nets, run-
ning a club tournament, and
vastly improving our overall
pickleball skills compared to
our first season" declared
Townsend. When asked why
he keeps playing Townsend
replied "it is a great social
game, you get a great work
out, it's competitive and we
have lots of laughs': When
asked of the clubs goals this
year Townsend responded
"We are one of the few clubs
that plays at night and we
really would like to fill the all
the four courts every night
by increasing our member-
ship in all age groups but
especially the younger mem-
bers." Townsend stated the
game of pickleball has
changed from a game for
seniors and snowbirds, to a
game for everyone and every
skill level. The club would
like to thank CHSS for
painting proper non -volley
lines on the courts as it
greatly improved the game.
Pickleball is the fastest
growing sport in Ontario. It
is a combination of tennis,
badminton and table tennis.
The game is played on a bad-
minton size court with a
whiffle ball, about the size of
a tennis ball; and a solid
smooth surface, short han-
dled paddle larger than a
ping pong paddle. The game
is easy to learn and you do
not have to be a great athlete
to play. Pickleball is a great
way to get active, keep active,
and have fun at the same
time. It has great aerobics
value.
If you are interested in
playing come out Tuesday
nights or contact the club by
e-mail at chpickleball@
gmail.com or call David
Townsend at 519-482-3718.
